This project aims at exploiting the unique opportunity opened by the granting of a H2020 Teaming project to be developed in the region Norte, the BIOPOLIS - Teaming to Upgrade to Excellence in Environmental Biology, Ecosystem Research and AgroBiodiversity aiming at upgrading CIBIO-Reserach Center in Biovidersity and Genetic Resources to a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Environmental Biology, Ecosystem Research and AgroBiodiversity. The current project represents the second and last part of the CCDRN complementary funds to the Teaming, fulfilling in this way the funding already granted by CCDRN through the NORTE-01-0246-FEDER-000063 BIOPOLIS - Enhancing the transference of scientific and technological knowledge through a new Centre of Excellence in Environmental Biology, Ecosystems and AgroBiodiversity, under the call NORTE-46-2020-03. This project will allow the adaptation of the infrastructures necessary to develop the Center of Excellence BIOPOLIS in Campus de Vairão and to reinforce the scientific and technological knowledge transfer for the business sector promoting greater effectiveness in the R&I System and the creation of value. This project will thus provide the conditions to work together with companies in demonstration projects using key facilities such as plant growth chambers, greenhouses, fully equipped ancient and modern laboratories and field settings. Overall, it is expected that the project will greatly contribute to strengthen the I&D sector in the Norte region, promoting economic development and highly qualified employment.
