The Northern Region of Portugal has wide opportunities and significant economic potential based in its local resources, particularly in agro-food resources related with the wine industry. The ongoing efforts of UTAD researchers, as well as those of others from public and private R&D&I institutions over recent decades have been fundamental to increasing the added value produced in and retained by the region, mainly through the development and dissemination of innovation and knowledge. As an extension of these achievements, the proposed INNOVINE&WINE Platform gives clear priority to skill-transfer along the length of the winemaking value chain. The strengths of UTAD’s R&D and innovation capacities and skills are grounded not only in individual projects, but in the opportunities that they provide to establish fruitful and long-term relationships with high performance world R&D&I organizations that share similar research interests.
