The Laboratory for Process Engineering, Environment, Biotechnology and Energy (LEPABE) is the largest research unit operating within the Faculty of Engineering of Porto in the fields of Chemical, Environmental and Biological Engineering. Since its foundation in 1998, LEPABE has been consistently classified as “Excellent” by the various international evaluation panels appointed by the Foundation of Science and Technology (FCT), including the most recent one. LEPABE towards ECO-INNOVATION (LEPABE-2-ECO-INNOVATION for short) is the general goal of this Structured Project, designed to develop products and processes that contribute to sustainable development, including commercial application of knowledge to elicit direct or indirect improvements of sustainability and clean processes and products. It is divided in 2 Research Lines for methodological reasons, dedicated to develop sustainable processes and products (RL1), and to preserve, treat and upgrade resources (RL2). Four activities wil
