Sumário

The main responsibilities of the candidate will be:- Conduct research in data privacy, with a specific focus on cryptographic primitives and its applications to privacy-preserving Artificial Intelligence (AI).- Develop and implement innovative algorithms and methodologies for privacy-preserving AI utilizing cryptographic approaches like Homomorphic Encryption.- Design strategies for secure data sharing incorporating decentralized approaches, such as Blockchain technologies- Lead and manage research initiatives on national and international funded projects, including the project planning, execution, and delivery of high-impact results.- Engage with industry partners to understand their needs and contribute to the development of privacy solutions with practical applicability.- Contribute to the institution´s efforts in securing research grants related to data privacy and artificial intelligence.- Stay informed about emerging privacy regulations and contribute to the development of policies addressing data protection in the context of AI.- Mentor and supervise graduate, master, PhD students and junior researchers, guiding them in their research projects and career development.- Publish research findings in reputable conferences and journals- Participate in conferences and workshops to present research outcomes and engage in discussions with the broader community. Qualifications:- PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field- Demonstrate a robust understanding of Mathematics and Cryptography- Proven experience with advanced concepts such as Post-Quantum Cryptography, Homomorphic Encryption, Blockchain Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, and Private Data Sharing- Successfully managed and led research initiatives on national and international funded projects- Experience in applying for funding opportunities at both national and European levels- Experience in bridging communication gaps between academia and industry- Experience in performing research in cross-disciplinary environments- Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor graduate, master, and Ph. D students- Authorship of peer-reviewed publications in reputable journals and conferences- International recognition Scientific Profile:The ideal candidate for this position must hold a PhD in Computer Science or a related field and should have a strong knowledge in advanced mathematical concepts and cryptography. Should have experience in developing and implementing innovative algorithms, particularly in privacy-preserving AI, using advanced techniques like Homomorphic Encryption. Should have a good track record of conducting impactful research in both academic and industrial settings, namely managing research projects at national and international levels. Experience in projects with the industry is highly desirable to foster collaboration and bridge the gap between academia and industryFurthermore, the candidate should have an internationally recognized profile demonstrated through the participation in international consortiums, collaboration in the development of project proposals, and invitations from Funding Agencies to serve as an expert in evaluating project proposals and reviewing ongoing projects.Mentorship and supervision skills are crucial, and the ideal candidate should have successfully guided and mentored graduate and master researchers. The candidate´s publication record should reflect a consistent contribution to reputable journals and conferences, underscoring their commitment to advancing the scientific knowledge in a privacy-preserving area. Rationale:ISEP stands at the forefront of research in developing Intelligent Systems heavily reliant on AI, specifically applied to industry use cases. In the current landscape, where discussions regarding AI and privacy-related concerns have gained unprecedented prominence, it is imperative to highlight that the development of these systems must consider data privacy concerns. ISEP is highly committed to advancing cutting-edge research, with Privacy Enhancing Technologies playing a pivotal role in fulfilling this commitment. The ability to connect with industry partners is a key factor, this ensures that our research has practical applications and contributes to bridging the gap between academic research and real-world applications. Having an experienced researcher in this area will allow our institution to tackle data privacy related problems in AI, enabling us to conduct cutting-edge research that will elevate our academic excellence. The researcher experience on supervising research for graduate, master´s, and Ph.D. students will contribute to elevating the quality of our academic output and fostering the development of the next generation of researchers in a highly demanding field. Finally, a candidate with proven experience on national and international projects will significantly contribute to the institution´s international projection and impact within the academic and scientific community.

  • Beneficiários Diretos são aqueles cujos financiamento e projetos a executar constam do Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência negociado e aprovado pela União Europeia;
