Disciplinary field of Integrable Systems and Geometry. The GFM is looking for a highly motivated and talented scientist to join the team as a researcher in Mathematical Physics and Geometry. The ideal candidate will play a key role in advancing research initiatives within the field of Integrable Systems, with a specific focus on their geometric aspects.Scientific profile required: a young researcher actively engaged in the broader domains of mathematical physics and geometry, holding a Ph.D. in these or related fields (obtained within the last 10 years). The desired candidate should possess established experience and knowledge in the research field of integrable systems, with a strong emphasis on both analytical and geometric techniques. This includes proficiency in algebraic geometry, complex analytic geometry, and derived geometry. Moreover, the ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to independently and collaboratively conduct research in areas such as asymptotic analysis, differential equations theory on complex domains, as well as their interactions with enumerative geometry theories (e.g., Gromov–Witten or Donaldson–Thomas theories), singularity theory, and homological mirror symmetry. It is a preferential parameter the contribution given to the development and evolution of the disciplinary field of this competition, in particular the contribution to the study of the geometry of isomonodromic deformations and Frobenius manifolds.A proven track record of publications in esteemed peer-reviewed Mathematics journals and conferences within the realms of mathematical physics and geometry is essential.Prior experience in mentoring Ph.D. or master students, and junior researchers is advantageous. Additionally, the ideal candidate should exhibit initiative and motivation in actively pursuing research funding, managing projects, and engaging in international networks.Job Tasks. The prospective employee will undertake a variety of responsibilities aimed at deepening our understanding of integrable systems geometry and its associated properties. These responsibilities include:1. Conducting Original Research: the scientist will be responsible for conducting original research in the areas of integrable systems and geometry. This will involve exploring rich geometric structures and properties intertwined with integrable systems, with the aim of uncovering novel insights and advancing the field.2. Interdisciplinary Collaboration:Collaboration lies at the heart of our research endeavors. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams comprising mathematicians, physicists, and other researchers at IST. Through these collaborations, they will explore the intricate connections between integrable systems geometry and related fields, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and insights.3. Dissemination of Research Findings:It is imperative that research findings are disseminated widely within the academic community. The candidate will be expected to publish their research findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and present their results at conferences and seminars, contributing to the scholarly discourse and advancing knowledge in the field.4. Mentorship and Guidance:Mentorship plays a crucial role in nurturing the next generation of researchers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to mentor graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and junior faculty members in integrable systems, geometry and related topics. By sharing their expertise and guidance, they will help cultivate a vibrant academic community dedicated to excellence and innovation.5. Contribution to Grant Writing:In addition to their research responsibilities, the candidate will contribute to grant writing and funding applications aimed at supporting research projects in integrable systems geometry. This involves identifying funding opportunities, developing grant proposals, and securing resources necessary to sustain our research endeavors.6. Divulgation and Outreach:The prospective employee will commit to scientific outreach, communicating research findings and their significance to a broad audience in an accessible and engaging manner, thereby promoting the dissemination of scientific knowledge and its societal impact.Rationale. Within the GFM, the team focused on Integrable Systems and Geometry has demonstrated leadership in these research fields, supported by both an established international network and a capacity to attract funding. Over the past decade, this team has secured approximately 1.5 million euros in funding from FCT. The creation of an Auxiliary Researcher position is strategic and forward-thinking, aiming to strengthen our team and establish it as a leading authority in the study of Integrable Systems and Geometry. This position will capitalize previous investments made by Portugal in these areas.
