We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team in the field of Sustainable Manufacturing Solutions within TEMA - Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The candidate will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research, developing innovative solutions, and contributing to the advancement of sustainable manufacturing practices, to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, and industry partners to address the challenges and opportunities in manufacturing processes and simulation. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct research on sustainable manufacturing technologies, processes, and materials. including innovative forms of transforming raw materials or components into new products, either applying conventional manufacturing processes or making use of the most recent and cutting-edge science breakthroughs. - Design and develop novel manufacturing approaches to optimize resource efficiency and minimize environmental impact. - Collaborate with industry partners to understand their needs and develop practical solutions aligned with sustainable manufacturing principles. - Carry out experiments, simulations, and data analysis to evaluate the performance and feasibility of sustainable manufacturing techniques. - Publish research findings in reputable journals and present at relevant conferences. - Prepare and submit research project proposals to secure external funding. - Mentor and supervise students and assist in their research projects. Requirements : - Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with a focus on manufacturing processes and simulation. - Strong background in manufacturing processes, materials science, and environmental sustainability. - Proficiency in modeling, simulation, and optimization techniques for sustainable manufacturing. - Experience with experimental design and data analysis methodologies. - Track record of publications in reputable journals and presentations at conferences. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research team. - Prior experience in securing and managing research projects. TEMA coordinates LASI´s “Innovative and Sustainable Industries” thematic line (TL1), which will certainly be leveraged by this new hire as the work focus is strongly related (manufacturing processes, materials development, etc.).
