Job descriptionThe Assistant Researcher position within the R&D Unit Digital Literacy and Inclusion Research Hub of the Polytechnic of Santarém offers a distinctive opportunity to shape and execute a long-term research agenda at CIAC and IPSantarem, with a specific focus on advancing innovative research in multimedia communication within an inclusive society. This role involves integrating the development of digital platforms with novel approaches to disseminating scientific knowledge across various domains.The candidates will have the specific tasks of leading research projects, conducting analyses, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and publishing results in prestigious scientific journals. They will also actively participate in the supervision of graduate students. The results will be presented in national and international meetings and will be published in national and international outlets (including articles in reference peer-reviewed journals).To effectively realize the outlined objectives, the Researcher in Media and Communications is tasked with a multifaceted array of responsibilities:a) Leading Research Projects: Assume leadership roles in spearheading research projects focused on digital communication and innovation.b) Conducting National and International Research: Undertake comprehensive national and international research endeavours aimed at identifying specific social inclusion needs, thereby informing targeted interventions and solutions.c) Promoting Interdisciplinary Solutions: Advocate for and actively contribute to the development of interdisciplinary solutions aimed at addressing the complex challenges surrounding social inclusion, fostering collaboration across diverse academic disciplines.d) Collaborating with Interdisciplinary Teams: Forge collaborative partnerships with interdisciplinary teams, including members of European Alliances, to synergistically work towards achieving research objectives and maximizing impact on a global scale.e) Publishing Research Findings: Disseminate research findings through publication in renowned scientific journals.f) Supervising Graduate Students: Provide mentorship and guidance to graduate students.g) Staying Updated on Emerging Trends: Remain abreast of emerging trends and technologies in digital communication and innovation.h) Collaborating with Partners and Communities: Engage in collaborative partnerships with external partners and communities to co-create and implement social inclusion projects, ensuring their relevance and effectiveness within diverse socio-cultural contexts.i) Facilitating Funding Opportunities: Proactively seek and facilitate new funding opportunities to support social inclusion initiatives, leveraging external resources to sustain and expand research endeavours aimed at fostering societal impact and positive change. The required Scientific profile includes:a PhD in Communication, Media, Communication StudiesAdditionally, the candidate must have proven expertise in social inclusion and accessibility research, partnership development, and interdisciplinary collaboration.Strong project management skills and experience in community engagement are also necessary.Familiarity with emerging technologies for social inclusion and evaluation methods is preferred.The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication and networking skills, a proven track record in securing funding for research projects, strong analytical skills, and the ability to conduct empirical studies.Additionally, experience in managing research projects and supervising graduate students is required.The recruitment of Researchers in Digital Communication is paramount to the fulfillment of the Research Centre´s strategic goals delineated in its comprehensive five-year plan for the period of 2024-2028. These positions serve as pivotal components that directly align with the core pillars of the plan, notably enhancing the unit´s pivotal role in fostering social inclusion, pushing the boundaries of communication in the digital realm, and intensifying efforts towards internationalization. Through groundbreaking research initiatives, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, and leveraging emerging technologies, the selected Researchers will play a pivotal role in driving the Research Centre towards the realization of its strategic objectives as outlined in the Plan.Furthermore, the pivotal roles of this Researcher in mentoring students and disseminating research findings through esteemed academic publications will serve to elevate the institution´s standing as a frontrunner in tackling pressing societal issues and catalyzing innovation within the field. This position is not only instrumental in meeting the evolving demands of contemporary society but also in actualizing the ambitious long-term vision outlined in the Research Centre´s Strategic Plan.
