In response to the growing demand for advanced research in metabolomics, driven by the increasing complexity of understanding environmental, dietary, and endogenous factors influencing food properties and health, CBQF secured funding through the FCT programmatic program to establish a position recognizing the urgent need for expertise in exploring metabolic pathways and networks to enhance the capacity of the new metabolomics group. However, this position is set to expire with the conclusion of CBQF´s programmatic funding at the end of 2024, necessitating urgent action to secure its continuation. This role plays a pivotal part not only in advancing scientific knowledge within the center, but also in addressing crucial challenges faced by the wider scientific community and economy.By leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as FTIR and Mass Spectrometry, and developing sophisticated data analysis tools, the Assistant Researcher will lead groundbreaking research projects aimed at unravelling the intricate relationships between microbial ecosystems and human health. This initiative is critical for enhancing our understanding of food matrices and addressing pressing issues related to food safety, quality, and nutritional value.Furthermore, integrating metabolomics data with other omics and metadata will provide a comprehensive understanding of biological systems, offering invaluable insights for various industries, including food production, healthcare, and environmental protection. This holistic approach not only fosters scientific excellence but also stimulates innovation and economic growth by facilitating the development of novel sensor technologies and practical applications derived from research findings.Moreover, active collaboration with key stakeholders, including the food industry and regulatory agencies, ensures the translation of research outcomes into tangible solutions, further strengthening the centre’s reputation as a leader in biotechnology research and promoting its contribution to societal well-being. Mentoring junior researchers, securing competitive funding, and upholding academic and research excellence are integral aspects of this role, reinforcing CBQF´s commitment to advancing knowledge, fostering innovation, and driving economic impact.The ideal candidate for the position of Assistant Researcher should possess the following qualifications and skills:A PhD in Bioinformatics, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in the principles and techniques relevant to metabolomics research.Proficiency in advanced analytical data analysis using R or equivalent software for statistical and bioinformatics analyses. The candidate should have a keen interest in metabolomics-based research and be adept at metabolomics data processing, including preprocessing, normalization, and statistical analysis.The candidate should have demonstrated the ability to conduct rigorous scientific investigations and disseminate their findings effectively to the scientific community including a proven track record of research excellence, evidenced by publications in reputable scientific journals.Experience in integrating research projects, including collaboration with international and multidisciplinary teams. The candidate should be able to work effectively in diverse research environments, fostering collaboration and teamwork to achieve common research goals.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex scientific concepts clearly and concisely to both scientific and non-scientific audiences. The candidate should be able to effectively communicate their research findings, insights, and implications to diverse stakeholders, including fellow researchers, industry partners, and policymakers.In addition to these core qualifications and skills, the ideal candidate should demonstrate a passion for scientific inquiry, creativity in problem-solving, and a commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation in the field of metabolomics. They should also exhibit strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Beneficiários
As duas tipologias são:
- Beneficiários Diretos são aqueles cujos financiamento e projetos a executar constam do Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência negociado e aprovado pela União Europeia;
