Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant Researcher in experimental ultrafast laser physics and attosecond science. We seek candidates with experience in attosecond science, applications of attosecond technology, and ultrafast laser development.The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of ultrafast optics and lasers, high-repetition rate parametric amplification down to the few cycle regime, ultrafast pulse characterization and compression techniques, non-linear optics as well as in high-order harmonic generation and applications.engineering, nanotechnology, and physics, with a focus on innovative solutions for renewable energy and sustainability.Key Responsibilities:a) Conducting cutting-edge research namely by designing, implementing, and analyzing experiments aimed at advancing knowledge in ultrafast photonics, including the development of new techniques, methodologies, and applications.b) Propose, submit, and execute research projects in the development the femto and atto sciences to secure funding. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing grant proposals of research projects, which may include government grants and industry partnershipsc) Collaborate with other researchers including Laser Physicists, Condensed Matters Physicists, Engineers as well as specialists in Biomedical, both within the institution and at external organizations, for sharing expertise, resources, and ideas to tackle complex scientific challenges in ultrafast photonics.,d) Analyze data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to the scientific community through publication in reputed scientific journals as well as by participating in scientific conferences.f) Stay abreast of the latest advancements in femto and attosecond Sciences through literature review and professional development opportunities.g) Mentor junior researchers, technicians, Masters, PhD. and mobility students providing guidance and support in their projects and professional growth.-Scientific profile - preferences:Experience in the following areas is required:a) Expertise on ultrashort pulse generation, compression, characterization, and applications.b) Proved hands on experience on ultrafast pulse spectral broadening and compression to a few-cycle regime namely by hollow-fiber waveguides in conjunction with chirped-mirror compressorsc) Experience on the application and development of applied techniques for temporal and spatio-temporal characterization of ultrafast laser pulses in the femtosecond regime.d) Experience on the use of ultrafast pulse characterization techniques, such as autocorrelation, FROG and SPIDER.e) Demonstrated experience on the maintenance, alignment and improvement of ultrafast laser systems, based on titanium sapphire oscillators and amplifiers and optical parametric chirped pulse amplifiers.-Qualifications:PhD in Physics, with PhD. thesis on ultrafast lasers/photonicsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and innovate in the field Photonics. excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working effectively in multidisciplinary teams.Commitment to advancing femto and attosecond Sciences.-Rationale:The advancement of ultrafast laser technologies, femtosecond, and attosecond science is pivotal in revolutionizing various scientific fields, including physics, biology, and materials science. An Assistant Researcher specializing in ultrafast lasers and femto/attosecond science is essential for driving innovation and progress in this rapidly evolving field. The expertise in developing cutting-edge laser systems and experimental techniques can lead to groundbreaking discoveries and applications, particularly in the study of ultrafast dynamics in materials, and quantum phenomena.By focusing on the development of ultrafast laser sources, pulse shaping techniques, and advanced measurement methods, this position aims to push the boundaries of temporal resolution and precision in ultrafast science. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and multidisciplinary research approaches, the Assistant Researcher will contribute to the understanding of fundamental processes occurring on femtosecond and attosecond timescales. This deeper insight into ultrafast phenomena will pave the way for the development of novel technologies, such as ultrafast spectroscopy, ultrafast imaging, and precision metrology.
