Advanced materials with unconventional electrical and magnetic properties are at the forefront of current progress, impacting domains such as sustainable energy generation or quantum technologies. C2TN is a national leader and an internationally recognized partner in the field of this type of materials, reflecting not only the great and long expertise in molecular and intermetallic materials with unusual physical properties, but also the investments made in the recent decades to strengthen their chemical design and characterization capabilities, particularly at low temperatures and in high magnetic fields.In this context, the prospective auxiliary researcher will be primarily responsible for advancing the study of such materials, with a special focus on molecular materials. The main tasks to be assigned involve i) the synthesis and design of materials with targeted unconventional electrical and magnetic properties, ii) the structural, microstructural, electrical and magnetic characterization of such materials, using methods such as single crystal X-ray diffraction, SEM/EDS and electrical conductivity measurements, iii) the data analysis to establish relations between the different structural, microstructural and physical properties parameters and to contribute to a better understanding of this type of materials, and iv) the preparation and submission of national and international research projects in the selected research field.The required scientific profile must be in line with the main tasks to be performed and implies a highly motivated candidate with solid scientific background in Chemical and Radiopharmaceutical Sciences, with focus on Solid-State Chemistry, encompassing i) a deep knowledge of the chemical principles, in particular those governing the synthesis of molecular materials, ii) knowledge of the physics of solid-state advanced materials, and iii) a previous experience in experimental research focused on materials properties and behaviors.The rationale for recruiting a researcher in this field covers several aspects, all of which are considered critical for C2TN and DECN: i) the research on materials with unconventional electrical and magnetic properties has a high potential for the development of several emerging areas, such as new sustainable energy sources and of quantum technologies, with potential applications in high technology industries; ii) this position also provides opportunities for the development of researchers specialized skills in cutting-edge material synthesis and characterization techniques; finally, iii) it will ensure that IST remains at the forefront of scientific research in areas of Chemical and Radiopharmaceutical Sciences - Solid State Chemistry, thus promoting its reputation as a leader in these disciplines.Consequently, in a broader sense, this recruitment assumes a significant importance in the IST scientific landscape as it: i) serves as a channel for the strengthening and developing skills, enabling researchers (from C2TN, but also from other research units collaborating with them) to acquire and improve important new techniques for exploring unconventional material properties; ii) strengthen IST´s presence in critical emerging fields, such as novel sustainable energy sources and quantum technologies, ensuring that the institution remains at the forefront of scientific exploration and innovation; and iii) consolidating IST’s reputation as a pioneering research centre, by maintaining a leading position in Chemical and Radiopharmaceutical Sciences - the Solid State Chemistry.In order to successfully fill this position with talented researchers, IST has established robust selection mechanisms, that begin with the scouting of potential excellent candidates, followed by a rigorous recruitment process that evaluates the candidates based on their academic acumen, research experience, and alignment with the institution´s objectives. Coordinator Researchers and/or Full Professors from different institutions and with experience in the field will compose the Conquest jury to ensure the selection of the best candidate.
Beneficiários
As duas tipologias são:
- Beneficiários Diretos são aqueles cujos financiamento e projetos a executar constam do Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência negociado e aprovado pela União Europeia;
