Sumário

REQUIMTE is seeking a Principal Researcher in the field of Chemistry with emphasis in materials engineering and electrochemistry for energy-related applications to fast forward the clean energy transition and achieve a more resilient energy system.REQUIMTE seeks a person who will be a potential research leader as well as a scientific leader for the development of sustainable materials for electrochemical energy conversion and storage technologies, and who has clear research visions, educational and administrative skills. Research at the REQUIMTE vary from organic chemistry, physical-chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, chemical biology, biochemistry, food chemistry, computational chemistry to molecular biophysics.Key tasks include the development of an independent research line that focuses on the development of electrochemical energy conversion and storage technologies, including design and production of high-performance electrode materials with focus on polyoxometalates, carbon and carbon hybrids produced via sustainable processes, waste recycling, and avoidance of critical elements The successful applicant will be part of the team that is responsible for the development of efficient, selective and sustainable electrocatalysts, for fuel cells & electrolyzers and electrode materials for batteries and supercapacitors in the context of green energy transition. An important part of the tasks is to provide training for (PhD)-students and Post Docs in the field of electrochemical energy related applications and to promote collaborations with technology experts, other scientists, and entrepreneurs, to gather input and feedback for greater outreach of the field. The successful applicant must be able to supervise Master and PhD students and to teach at all levels.Key responsibilities include:The principal researcher is expected to establish an independent and internationally recognized research profile in Sustainable Materials for Electrochemical Energy Conversion & Storage Technologies.Follow developments within the subject area and the development of society in general that is important for the work at REQUIMTE.Contribute to the supervision of second- and third-cycle students.We expect the successful candidate to value and participate in the general academic work at University of Porto .Develop a proper communication and dissemination strategy of the major innovation outcomes.Scientific Profile: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:Ph.D. in Chemistry or in a related field with a strong focus on electrochemistry, energy-related electrocatalysis, polyoxometalates, advanced composite materials design, and electrocatalyst materials from (waste) biomass.Research Expertise. It is necessary that the research expertise and the professional skills are relevant to the content of the job description and the tasks included in the employment.Strong background in electrocatalysis including electrocatalysts preparation and characterization and application in energy reactions relevant for fuel cell (oxygen reduction reaction, ORR) and electrolyzers (oxygen and hydrogen evolution reaction, OER & HER).Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals, demonstrating the ability to contribute novel insights to the field.Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Rationale: The recruitment of an Principal Researcher in the field of Chemistry with expertise in materials engineering and electrochemistry for energy-related applications aligns with our institution´s strategic goals in advancing research in design and fabrication of new advanced functional materials, a vital area of LAQV, and in sustainable solutions for energy conversion and storage. The emphasis in materials engineering and electrochemistry for energy-related applications has the potential to fast forward the clean energy transition is justified to reinforce our team of researchers that focus on fundamental and curiosity driven research while addressing important research topics in close collaboration with industry, health care and societal bodies. The expertise of the successful candidate will significantly contribute to ongoing research projects focusing on research in the field of advanced (electrode) materials for clean energy technologies and will strengthen our institutional capabilities in these critical areas. The appointed Principal Researcher will join the Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry (LAQV) at research unit FCUP. The research topic is also in alignment with LAQV-REQUIMTE scientific strategy. This position reflects our commitment to staying at the forefront of scientific discovery and making meaningful contributions to the field of green chemistry and clean and renewable energy technologies.

  • Beneficiários Diretos são aqueles cujos financiamento e projetos a executar constam do Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência negociado e aprovado pela União Europeia;
