REQUIMTE is seeking an Assistant Researcher in the field of Chemistry with emphasis in Computational Enzymology.REQUIMTE seeks a person who will be a potential research leader as well as a scientific leader for Computational Enzymology, and who has clear research visions, educational and administrative skills. Research at the REQUIMTE range from organic chemistry, physical-chemistry, chemical engineering, chemical biology, biochemistry, food chemistry, computational chemistry to molecular biophysics.Key tasks include the development of an independent research line that focuses on application and/or method development aiming at the determination of enzyme reaction mechanisms with quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics simulations for application in understanding human (patho)physiology, drug discovery and other challenges in the field of health and well-being. The successful applicant will be part of the team that is responsible for molecular modeling and high-performance computing at Requimte. An important part of the tasks is to provide training for (PhD)-students and Post Docs and to participate in the management of the supercomputer infrastructure. The successful applicant must be able to supervise Master and PhD students and to teach at all levels.Key responsibilities include:The assistant researcher is expected to establish an independent and internationally recognized research profile in Computational Enzymology using quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics methods.Follow developments within the subject area and the development of society in general that is important for the work at REQUIMTE.Contribute to the supervision of second- and third-cycle students. We expect the successful candidate to value and participate in the general academic work at University of Porto .Scientific Profile: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:Ph.D. in Chemistry or in a related field with a strong focus on Computational Biochemistry.Research Expertise. It is necessary that the research expertise and the professional skills are relevant to the content of the job description and the tasks included in the employment.Experience in the determination of enzyme reaction mechanisms with quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics molecular dynamics methods.Experience in molecular dynamics of biomolecules, protein-protein, and protein-ligand docking.Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals, demonstrating the ability to contribute novel insights to the field.Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Successful experience if attracting research financing or supercomputing time allocation.Rationale: The recruitment of an Assistant Researcher in the field of Chemistry with expertise in Computational Enzymology aligns with our institution´s strategic goals in advancing research in Biological Chemistry and Computational Chemistry. The emphasis in Computational Enzymology is justified to reinforce our team of researchers that focus on fundamental and curiosity driven research while addressing important research topics in close collaboration with industry, health care and societal bodies. The expertise of the successful candidate will significantly contribute to ongoing research projects focusing on research in (patho)physiology, drug discovery and other applications for health and well-being and will strengthen our institutional capabilities in these critical areas. The appointed Assistant Researcher will join the research unit of Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry (LAQV) at Faculty of Sciences at University of Porto. The research topic is also in alignment with LAQV-REQUIMTE scientific strategy. This position reflects our commitment to staying at the forefront of scientific discovery and making meaningful contributions to the field of Computational Enzymology for Health and Well-Being.
Beneficiários
