Rationale for the Recruitment in the Scientific Area : The recruitment of an Assistant Researcher in Social Psychology specializing in Intergroup Health Inequalities is crucial for the research unit to strengthen its multidisciplinary focus on health and social research aimed at untangling the intricate web of inequalities in health outcomes between different social groups. Social Psychology research in this area will help to diversify the research unit, especially contributing to the Inclusion and Vulnerabilities Thematic Line . Successful programs on related topics, such as vaccine hesitancy, healthier aging, and the societal impact of pandemics, are indicative of a commitment to advancing understanding of important societal issues.Indeed, a social psychological perspective offers valuable insights into the catalysts for health inequalities. Stereotypes and stigma rooted in social categories such as gender, race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status are explored as influential factors in health-related social interactions. This perspective also extends to the effects of social identity on both users and health professionals that influence health behaviors, including the adoption of healthy practices, adherence to medical advice, and participation in risk behaviors. An important focus in this area is to examine the implicit bias of health professionals to unravel subtle biases. This research addresses psychological stressors such as chronic discrimination and microaggressions and highlights their far-reaching role in the fabric of health inequalities. At the societal level, research in these areas provides public policy insights for effective health communication strategies that consider the cultural nuances and specific needs of different social groups. Efforts also extend to the development of strategies that pursue the reduction of inequalities and the promotion of equitable health outcomes. Cultural sensitivity emerges as a crucial element in mitigating inequalities as it recognizes the socio-historical cultural context in which social categorization processes define intersectionality. This understanding recognizes the convergence of multiple social identities and their collective impact on health inequalities. In summary, the recruitment of an Assistant Researcher in this field follows a collective approach provides a stronger consistent strategic planning by the research unit for the coming years. This includes the integration of different interdisciplinary threads around research themes, all contributing to a broader network to promote a healthier and more equitable future for society.
