Sports sciences have become increasingly intertwined with technology and data science, revolutionizing the way athletes train, perform, and maintain their well-being. The integration of these fields has led to more precise assessments, personalized training programs, injury prevention strategies, and overall optimization of athletic performance. The Assistant Researcher will develop research within the following tasks:Biomechanics Analysis: Utilizing motion capture systems equipped with sensors and cameras to track and analyze the biomechanics of athletes during training and competition.Wearable Technology: Employing wearable devices to monitor various metrics such as heart rate, sleep patterns, and recovery times. These devices provide real-time data, allowing coaches and athletes to make immediate adjustments to training regimens for optimal performance and recovery.Performance Metrics: Utilizing data analytics to explore performance metrics, such as speed, power output, and endurance. Coaches can use this information to identify strengths and weaknesses, customize training programs, and set personalized goals for athletes.Nutritional Optimization: Utilizing apps to track nutritional intake, ensuring the accomplishment of specific dietary requirements.Biometric Sensors: Using sensors to identify fatigue, overtraining, or injury risk. This allows for early intervention and modification of training plans to prevent injuries and maintain long-term health.Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR): Implementing VR and AR technologies in rehabilitation programs to simulate real-world scenarios and aid in recovery. These technologies can also enhance mental conditioning and visualization techniques.Genomic Analysis: Employing genetic testing to identify an athlete´s predisposition to certain traits and potential injury risks. This information can be used to customize training programs and lifestyle choices for optimal performance and health.Video Tracking Systems: Using advanced video analysis tools to help coaches break down an athlete´s performance, allowing for detailed feedback and targeted improvement strategies.The researcher should demonstrate expertise in Sports Sciences and health-related fields, with a focus on Sports Training, Technology, or Data Science. A proven track record of research publications in reputable journals showcasing expertise in the intersection of Sports Sciences and Technology is essential. Experience in designing and implementing sports training programs, incorporating technological advancements for performance enhancement, is also necessary. Proficiency in data analysis tools, statistical methods, and machine learning algorithms relevant to sports applications, as well as strong communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues, coaches, and athletes, is required.The rationale for opening this position stems from the growing significance of integrating Technology and Data Science in the field of Sports Sciences. As sports training evolves to encompass a more multidimensional and data-informed approach, there is a need for a dedicated professional who can bridge the gap between traditional training methodologies and the transformative potential of modern technologies. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing the scientific understanding of sports training, contributing to the university´s commitment to excellence in research and education.
