The concept of Territorial intelligence (TI) emerged to address the need for integrating and systematising fragmented knowledge of different types and sources in order to at provide insightful information for imagining and designing the future of the territories. Consequently, TI serves as a powerful tool to support place-based governance and policies directed towards empowering places, including the emerging “non-standardised geographies” for transformational changes and resilience. These changes are driven by local challenges (e.g. depopulation, ageing, land abandonment, agriculture intensification, extractivism, gentrification) and global socio-technical dynamics and shocks (e.g. climate change, migrations, geostrategic conflicts, financial and prices crisis and the artificial intelligence (AI)).CETRAD’s academic Chair on Territorial Intelligence will integrate the DATA4LowDensity lab (Network on Place-Based Territorial Intelligence) focused on low density regions (LDR), cities, and places facing shrinking sociodemographic dynamics and challenges, which are affected by complex changes in the global socio-technical systems, often referred as the “age of crisis”. Hosted by CETRAD, the DATA4LowDensity lab aspires to establish itself as a prominent international network linking research and development (R&D), regions, cities, and relevant stakeholders, including both local and global entrepreneurs, across the globe.CETRAD’s academic chair on Territorial Intelligence main responsibilities include:Coordinating the development of comprehensive digital infrastructure, incorporating a user interface to foster user communities and facilitate easy-to-understand data visualisation.Support the compilation, integration, and curation of core datasets maintained by DATA4LowDensity lab to ensure their reliability and compatibility new datasets that will be developed and progressively integrated and shared;Developing models and tools to advance the state-of-art regarding the integration of data originating from multiple sources and reflecting diverse ontologies;Conducting data analysis and management data;Co-leading the implementation and development of a network of smart living labs (SLL);Supporting place-based real-life social innovation entrepreneurial ecosystems and the design and implementation of collaborative governance models that may enable transformative transition and strengthen place-based resilience as well as create social, ecological and economic value to people and place.Qualification requirementsProfessional and methodological competencies:PhD degree in a relevant scientific discipline, such as urban and spatial planning, urban and regional studies, regional sciences, data science, economic geography, innovation studies, transition studies and related fields;Proven skills related to big data analysis and knowledge in programming using R or Python;Advanced knowledge on statistical methods, including spatial statistics;Demonstrated experience with transdisciplinary approaches;Excellent academic skills and proven experience regarding: competitive research projects leadership and proposal designing, papers’ publication, doctoral students’ supervision, and impactful societal research contributions.Personal competencies:Self-motivated and open to embracing plural perspectives, with a willingness to learn and test new approaches and new methods;Ability to lead and motivate transdisciplinary teams;Capacity to handle multiple work flows simultaneously and make independent decisions ;Strong communication and interpersonal skills;Proficient in both English and Portuguese languages.The DATA4LowDensity lab (Network on Place-Based Territorial Intelligence) is a crucial asset for CETRAD. Currently in its early stage, the lab lacks a scientist with a profile as described above, capable of elevating it to a higher development level.

- Beneficiários Finais são aqueles cujos financiamento e projetos a executar são aprovados após um processo de seleção, feito através de Avisos de Candidaturas.

Na realização dos Avisos de Candidaturas são solicitadas candidaturas para a escolha dos projetos e dos beneficiários finais a quem é atribuído o financiamento.
A avaliação do projeto é realizada com base na sua conformidade com os critérios de seleção definidos nos avisos de candidatura, podendo ser atribuída uma nota final, quando aplicável.
