Sumário

This position seeks a sociological perspective to promote research activities and scientific production in the areas of the digital society, inequality, and public policy, key research areas developed at CIES. Research should focus on the multidimensional consequences of the digital society and their mechanisms that could increase or decrease several types of inequalities, and to build more inclusive and resilient public policies. A global perspective, fully aligned with the 2030 United Nations Agenda is fundamental for the development of innovative ideas in this field. The position will seek to understand the complexities of the digital society, promote social inclusion and reduced inequalities, and develop policies and programs at the local, regional, national, European, and global scales. The researcher will be expected to design and carry out research projects and studies, publish and disseminate results and analyses, both nationally and internationally, establish partnerships and institutional collaborations, supervise theses and dissertations, and collaborate in teaching activities within the established limits for researchers in masters’ and PhD programmes or in specialised curricular units of 1st cycle courses. The researcher should have international research experience of coordination of projects and studies in the thematic fields of the digital society and inequality. Experience articulating research in these areas with public policy and collaborative studies with public institutions is also relevant.  It is expected that the researcher will align his/her activities within the scope of CIES’ research group of Inequality, Work and Social Well-being, and the activities of the Inequality Observatory, thereby developing and encouraging new research activities.  Furthermore, the researcher should seek to contribute to the Thematic Line 5 – Digital Transformation and Public Policies of the SocioDigital Lab for Public Policies, and their respective on-going activities, which include collection, analyses, and presentation of data, production of new knowledge, contribution to policymaking, and providing platforms for citizen engagement and feedback. In summary, alignment of research interests should be with the goals of the Research Unit (https://cies.iscte-iul.pt/) and of the SocioDigital Lab for Public Policy (https://sociodigitallab.iscte-iul.pt/). It is expected that the researcher will articulate the research activity with the teaching of relevant content in master´s or in one of the seven doctoral programmes managed by CIES.
