RISE (Rede de Investigação em Saúde) aims to hire a highly motivated and accomplished Principal Investigator in Neuroengineering and Biomedical Technology to join its research team. The successful candidate will lead a cutting-edge preclinical and translational research program focused on developing novel neurotechnologies that can advance fundamental neuroscience research and provide novel diagnostic and therapeutic solutions for brain disorders. Rationale :RISE is committed to advancing health research in Portugal and promoting translational research that bridges the gap between basic science and clinical applications. The hiring of a Principal Investigator in Neuroengineering and Biomedical Technology aligns with RISE´s mission to strengthen research in translational biomedical innovation contributing to understanding brain disorders and improving their prevention, diagnosis, management, and treatment. Brain disorders represent a significant public health challenge, affecting millions of individuals worldwide, with high economic and societal burden. By investing in and developing novel biomedical innovations, RISE aims to accelerate the cycle of translational research by improving technology transfer to the healthcare sector. The integration of cutting-edge neuroengineering approaches into our research program will enhance our ability to create meaningful technologies and translate them into clinical applications, ultimately improving patient outcomes and advancing healthcare. The Principal Investigator in Neuroengineering and Biomedical Technology will play a key role in leading research projects, mentoring junior researchers, training graduate and undergraduate students, and collaborating with other research groups within RISE and external partners. Their expertise in developing and utilizing novel neurotechnologies will contribute to innovative approaches to study brain function and dysfunction, but also to the translation of new approaches for the prevention, diagnosis, management, and treatment of brain disorders. This position represents an exciting opportunity for an experienced neuroengineer to make a significant impact on the field and contribute to RISE´s mission of promoting research excellence and innovation in health sciences. Scientific Profile ???????:The ideal candidate will have:1) A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Neuroengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.2) Proven track record of peer-reviewed international publications, including as senior/corresponding author, in the field of neuroengineering, with a focus on technologies for brain-computer interfaces.3) Expertise in developing and utilizing cutting-edge neuroengineering methods, including implantable devices, neural interfaces, biosensor micro/nano-technologies, brain electrophysiology, advanced signal processing and machine learning for brain signal analysis, and preclinical validation of technology in animal models of brain disorders.4) Capability to attract competitive funding for research, including grants as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator from national and international funding agencies.5) Demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary research programs in collaboration with other research groups of engineering and biomedical science backgrounds.6) Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary research environment.7) Experience leading and managing a research team, including supervising graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of engineering and biomedical science backgrounds.
Beneficiários
