Cerebrovascular diseases (CVD) constitute one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide. CVDs have a significant impact on public health and the quality of life of populations. In Portugal, as in many other countries, these health conditions have been a growing concern due to their increasing incidence and association with a variety of modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors.The study of cerebral hemodynamics is crucial for understanding the mechanisms underlying changes in cerebral blood flow in normal and pathological conditions, as well as their impact on people´s health.The hiring of a Research Assistant in Clinical Neurology is essential for the successful implementation and completion of ongoing research projects within the institution, especially considering the current lack of a dedicated full-time researcher in the field of clinical neurology. Neurological disorders present significant challenges to public health, and research in this area is crucial for advancing our understanding of disease mechanisms, improving diagnostic techniques, and developing effective treatments. By recruiting a qualified Research Assistant, we aim to enhance our research capacity, accelerate scientific discovery, and ultimately contribute to improved patient outcomes in the field of clinical neurology. The absence of a dedicated full-time researcher in clinical neurology poses a challenge for the team, as it hinders their ability to fully address neurological research´s complex issues and demands. Therefore, the addition of a Research Assistant specializing in clinical neurology will provide valuable support and expertise, enabling the team to make meaningful progress in their research endeavors. Research Assistant Responsibilities :Research Protocol Development: The Research Assistant will collaborate with senior researchers to design and refine research protocols for clinical studies in neurology. This involves a literature review, identifying research questions, determining study methodologies, and developing data collection procedures.Participant Recruitment and Screening: The Research Assistant will be responsible for recruiting, screening, and enrolling participants for clinical studies. This includes contacting healthcare professionals, obtaining informed consent, and ensuring inclusion and exclusion criteria compliance.Data Collection and Management: The Research Assistant will collect, record, and manage various types of data, including clinical, neurological, and demographic information. The research assistant will be responsible for ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality throughout the research process.Standardized Assessments and Tests: The Research Assistant will conduct standardized assessments and tests on study participants according to research protocols. This may involve conducting cerebral hemodynamics studies, administering cognitive screenings, measuring vital signs, or other assessments relevant to the study objectives.Research Documentation and Organization: The Research Assistant will assist in preparing and organizing research materials, including consent forms, questionnaires, and study documentation. The assistant researcher will also participate in the preparation of applications for scientific research calls, contributing to increase research funding in the Department, and consequently promoting quality and innovation.Data Analysis and Interpretation: The Research Assistant will support data analysis efforts by processing research data using statistical software and other analytical tools. The research assistant will collaborate on interpreting research findings and preparing reports or presentations for dissemination.Collaboration and Communication: The Research Assistant will collaborate effectively with members of the research team, including physicians, nurses, and other research staff. They will be responsible for communicating information about the research, challenges, and relevant findings to stakeholders as needed. Required Scientific Profile : Ph.D. in Neuroscience; Previous experience in clinical research, especially in neurology, cerebrovascular diseases, or related disciplines; Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Proficiency in Microsoft Office and statistical analysis software; Familiarity with ethical principles and regulations governing research involving human subjects.
Beneficiários
As duas tipologias são:
- Beneficiários Diretos são aqueles cujos financiamento e projetos a executar constam do Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência negociado e aprovado pela União Europeia;
