The Researcher will be integrated in the Applied Research Institute (i2A) and the SPRINT research unit, focusing on applied research in the area of Sports Training, specializing in Performance Analysis, Motor Behaviour Analysis, and Strength and Conditioning, to enhance our understanding of sports performance and contribute to the development of evidence-based training methodologies.The successful candidate’s key responsibilities are divided in six major fields: (1) Performance Analysis in Sports - Conduct comprehensive performance analyses using advanced technologies such as motion capture, GPS tracking, and wearable sensors. Analyse data to identify patterns, trends, and key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to specific sports disciplines. Collaborate with coaches and athletes to translate analysis findings into practical training strategies. (2) Motor Behaviour Analysis - Investigate motor behaviour in various sports contexts, focusing on skill acquisition, biomechanics, and movement patterns. Develop and implement protocols for assessing and improving motor skills in athletes. (3) Strength and Conditioning Research - Design and implement studies related to strength and conditioning, with a focus on optimizing athletic performance and reducing the risk of injuries. Evaluate the effectiveness of different training modalities, resistance training protocols, and recovery strategies. (4) Applied Research Projects - Lead and contribute to applied research projects aligned with the IPC and SPRINT objectives. Collaborate with external partners, including sports organizations, to enhance the practical relevance of research outcomes. Disseminate research findings through peer-reviewed publications, conferences, and workshops. (5) Grant Writing and Funding Acquisition – Participate in the preparation and submission of research proposals to secure external funding for ongoing and new projects. Actively seek opportunities for research grants and partnerships to enhance the research unit´s capabilities and impact. (6) Teaching and Mentorship - Participate in educational activities, including teaching relevant courses or workshops. The candidate should also take on some curricular units in undergraduate courses, such as Sports Training Methodology, physical fitness, or prescription of exercise. They should also mentor undergraduate and graduate students and contribute to their academic and research development.The scientific profile of the successful candidate should be based in the Sports Science field. S/He should hold a Ph.D. in Sports Science or a related field, with an expertise in Sports Training or Performance Analysis. He should have proven experience in utilizing advanced technologies for performance analysis in sports, including proficiency in relevant software tools.The candidate should also provide a strong background in motor behaviour analysis, biomechanics, and skill acquisition, and demonstrate strength and conditioning knowledge, with in-depth understanding of strength and conditioning principles, with a focus on evidence-based practices.Research experience is valued, with a track record of conducting applied research in sports training, evidenced by publications in reputable journals and participation in relevant conferences. Finaly, the candidate should have the ability to work collaboratively with coaches, athletes, and interdisciplinary teams to translate research into practical applications.SPRINT is committed to applied research that directly benefits athletes, coaches, and sports organizations.
