This position is for a Principal Researcher who will assume the role of Head of Science (HoS) of VORTEX. Potential candidates should hold a PhD in Computer Science or similar areas for 10+ years and, cumulatively, have: 1) a strong track record of publications, preferably works that ensure the safety and security of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS); 2) a track record of continuous participation in R&D projects with leadership roles, preferably as Principal Investigator (PI) of fundamental research projects and as task and/or work package leader in industry driven, European projects;  3) experience as Research and Technology manager and/or as member of management and scientific boards of research institutions; 4) experience in supervising PhD and MSc students, and in the development of new curricula/course offering in higher education institutions; leadership roles in the organization of scientific events (workshops, conferences, summer schools) and proven experience in the dissemination and communication of science and technology.The choice for this profile is grounded on the one hand, on the increasingly importance of ensuring cyber-physical systems safety and security, a natural key requirement of VORTEX’s partners and potential industrial clients. On the other hand, the selected candidate will have a key role in providing strategic leadership and scientific direction, in coordination with the management body of VORTEX and its associates, aligning VORTEX’s activities with the broader goals and objectives of its T&I areas as well as with the international technological and scientific roadmaps for those areas. In more detail, the HoS will be responsible for:identifying key research topics in the T&I areas of VORTEX, and fostering innovation and collaboration among team membersensure the alignment of the VORTEX research agenda with emerging trends in the T&I areas and devise plans to address the relevant scientific challenges.engage, promote, and extend the industry affiliated programmereinforce and increase the collaboration with VORTEX’s associates, as well as fostering new collaborations with other national and international players, both academic and industrialdevelop and help implement a well-structured plan that will allow for knowledge generated by the academic associates to come into VORTEX’s to be accelerated into assets with potential for industrial exploitation and for commercialization purposesidentify opportunities for strategic partnerships with industry, government agencies, and other organizations to enhance the research capabilities and impact of the center.act as a scientific representative of VORTEX, promoting its scientific achievements, participating in public outreach activities, and fostering a culture of scientific excellence and innovation of the VORTEX team.ensure compliance with relevant regulations, ethical standards, and safety protocols in all scientific activities and research projectsdisseminate and communicate scientific findings, project updates, and other relevant achievements to its associates, external partners, and funding agencies through presentations, reports, and publications
