The University of Minho´s School of Engineering, through its Department of Production and Systems, is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in the disciplinary area of Systems Engineering and Industrial Processes that will contribute in advancing the department´s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and contribution to the development of complex and sustainable industrial systems.The Assistant Professor will be dedicated to delivering comprehensive educational programs, drawing on the latest advancements and research within the field. Responsibilities will extend to the development and instruction of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, aligning with the department´s strategic vision for innovative and interdisciplinary education. Moreover, the role entails the supervision of student projects, dissertations, and theses, aimed at promoting a robust learning environment that challenges and supports students in equal measure.On the research front, the successful candidate will drive forward-looking research initiatives that enhance knowledge in Systems Engineering and Industrial Processes. This involves not only securing funding through meticulous grant proposals but also leading and collaborating on research projects that yield high-impact publications and presentations at top-tier international forums. The expectation includes fostering collaborations across disciplines and with external partners, thereby enriching the department´s research portfolio and its application to real-world challenges.The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline, underscored by a demonstrable research trajectory in relevant areas. This includes a strong publication record, proficiency in quantitative methods, and expertise in areas such as Operations Research and Optimization, Numerical Methods, Applied Statistics, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Simulation.
