Sumário

This CF-UM-UP position is for someone who, at the start of employment, has a doctorate or a foreign degree equivalent to a doctorate in the disciplinary area of Physics, and should have Post-Doc education in theory of Light-Matter Interactions at Nanoscale, Nanophotonics and Condensed Matter Physics. The successful candidate is expected to bridge the gap between the experimental field of Optics/Photonics and Condensed Matter theory. He/she will bring complentary skills to those of the condensed matter theorists of the Physics Departament in the theory of Condensed Matter and Optics. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Plasmonics and Polaritonics of nobel metals and bidimensional materials as well as in light-matter interaction at the level of Quantum Optics and Quantum Theory of manybody Physics. Successful candidates are expected to have strong involvement in the scientific research lines and areas of the Physics Centre of the Universities of Minho and Porto (CF-UM-UP) which will contribute to enhance the synergies between the CF-UM-UP and the Physics Department (DF) of the School of Sciences (ECUM), in particular in what concerns teaching Undergraduate (1st cycle), Master (2nd cycle) and PhD (3rd cycle) Curricular Units (UCs) for which the DF is responsible for. The teaching duties will benefit from the scientific research expected to be accomplished by the successful candidate in the theory of Light-Matter Interactions at nanoscale, Nanophotonics and Condensed Matter Physics.The tasks to be assigned to the successful candidate are those normally attributed to faculty members, namely, a) carry out scientific research, cultural creation or technology development activities, including preparing projects or grant applications in competitive calls at national and/or international level, integrate and/or lead a scientific team, eventually integrate international collaborations; b) Carry out the teaching duties assigned, guide and supervise the students at different levels (undergraduate, MSc and PhD students), and eventually supervise Post-Doctoral positions; c) Participate in activities related to university representation, scientific disclosure and economic and social knowledge transfer, outreach and training activities.Regarding the scientific research task, the successful candidate is expected to contribute significantly to the scientific program at CF-UM-UP in particular, in articulation with the scientific strategy of the School of Sciences of the University of Minho (ECUM). The successful candidate is expected to: a) actively participate in one or more of the research programmes of the CF-UM-UP where activities related to the theory of Light-Matter Interactions at nanoscale, Nanophotonics and Condensed Matter Physics are currently on-going and/or, b) be able to propose new research activities, research methods, or theoretical models and interpretations and/or, c) to participate in theoretical R&D activities leading to future projects at the CF-UM-UP or at other large international research facilities currently collaborating with CF-UM-UP and/or, d) to develop theoretical research activities integrated in the lines of CF-UM-UP. Such scientific profile requires a strong scientific record in the theory of Light-Matter Interactions at nanoscale, Nanophotonics and Condensed Matter Physics, and the corresponding recognition by the scientific community at large.The scientific tasks and goals of the current opening are fully aligned with the CF-UM-UP scientific strategy. Furthermore, they allow for synergies with the teaching duties, fostering the teaching offer of the Physics Department of the University of Minho and allowing the students at the different levels (undergraduate, Master and PhD) to be exposed and to actively take part in state-of-the-art research which is relevant to their training in Physics, namely in the theory of Light-Matter Interactions at nanoscale, Nanophotonics and Condensed Matter Physics.In this proposal there are several important challenges and opportunities for the immediate, medium and long term, namely the participation in state-of-the-art scientific research programmes at CF-UM-UP in the theory of Light-Matter Interactions at nanoscale, Nanophotonics and Condensed Matter Physics with the possibility of extending the programmes developed in these areas of expertise, to international research programmes. The proposal is aligned with the short- and medium-term strategy of the Physics Department, which lists these areas as being a priority.The successful candidate will be integrated in the CF-UM-UP research Lines at the University of Minho, expanding its scientific, training and knowledge-transfer activities in Minho. Simultaneously, he/she will contribute to reinforce the internationalization of the School of Sciences and the Physics Department and the transfer of advanced technologies and methods to the society.

  • Beneficiários Diretos são aqueles cujos financiamento e projetos a executar constam do Plano de Recuperação e Resiliência negociado e aprovado pela União Europeia;
