iNOVA4Health FCT Research Unit is seeking a highly qualified and motivated assistant researcher with specialized knowledge in Cell Biology ad Intercellular Communication. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research in the areas of Intercellular Communication and Extracellular Vesicles Biology, with a specific focus Extracellular Vesicles Biogenesis and their role will be to focus on the intricate processes of extracellular vesicle formation and protein cargo loading. The successful candidate will contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge into the mechanisms of extracellular vesicles biogenesis and explore the engineering of extracellular vesicles.Key Responsibilities:1) Innovative Research: Research the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying extracellular vesicles biogenesis, release, and uptake in various cellular contexts. Employ state-of-the-art technologies for extracellular vesicle isolation, characterization, and engineering, including nanoparticle tracking analysis, and advanced microscopy techniques. Develop innovative approaches for the loading of therapeutic molecules into extracellular vesicles.2) Education and Training Programs: Developing education and training programs on the specific areas of physiology, and molecular mechanisms of obesity.3) Collaborative Research: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including interdisciplinary groups, to advance research projects. Participate in joint ventures that bridge the gap between basic science and translational medicine.4) Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyse experimental data using statistical methods. Prepare and present research findings at internal meetings and scientific conferences. Contribute to the writing of research papers for publication in high impact peer-reviewed journals.5) Mentorship and Supervision: Mentor and supervise junior researchers and students providing guidance on research projects and assisting with their academic and professional development.6) Funding: Contribute to the development of research proposals and funding applications.Scientific Profile:1) Ph.D. in Health Sciences or a related field.2) Demonstrated expertise in the isolation, characterization, and engineering of extracellular vesicles, with a portfolio of successful projects in exosome engineering.3) Proficiency in a broad array of molecular and cellular biology techniques, including but not limited to CRISPR-Cas9, proteomics, and advanced imaging techniques.7) Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals.8) Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.Rationale for Hiring:The recruitment for this specialized position is in line with our strategic initiative to advance the frontiers of knowledge in Extracellular vesicle Biology and its implications for intercellular communication. Extracellular vesicles play pivotal roles in numerous physiological and pathological processes, offering promising avenues for therapeutic intervention. By harnessing the potential of exosome engineering, we aim to develop novel strategies for drug delivery and biomarker discovery. The expertise brought by the successful candidate will significantly bolster our research capabilities, ongoing research projects and strengthen our institutional capabilities in these critical areas. Furthermore, the hire will enhance collaboration with external partners, foster academic-industry relationships, and contribute to the training of the next generation of researchers in Extracellular Vesicles Biology. This appointment underscores our commitment to exploring innovative biological pathways and developing cutting-edge therapeutic solutions, positioning our institution at the vanguard of Extracellular Vesicles research and its translational applications.
