We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Cell and Developmental Biology Researcher to join our dynamic team at iNOVA4Health FCT Research unit. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research in the areas of Cell and Developmental Biology, with a specific focus on Tissue Repair, Tissue Mechanics, and Intercellular Communication. Key tasks include using animal and tissue models to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms of tissue morphogenesis and repair using advanced microscopy and image analysis approaches. The researcher will contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and the development of innovative solutions in the field.Key Responsibilities:1) Innovative Research: Design and execute experiments in the scientific area of Cell and Developmental Biology, with a specific focus on Tissue Repair, Tissue Mechanics, and Intercellular Communication.2) Education and Training Programs: Developing education and training programs in cell biology and tissue repair, aiming to prepare the next generation of researchers and healthcare workers in medical systems biology concepts.3) Collaborative Research: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including interdisciplinary groups, to advance research projects. Participate in joint ventures that bridge the gap between basic science and translational medicine.4) Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyse experimental data using statistical methods. Prepare and present research findings at internal meetings and scientific conferences. Contribute to the writing of research papers for publication in high impact peer-reviewed journals.5) Mentorship and Supervision: Mentor and supervise junior researchers and students. Provide guidance in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.6) Funding: Contribute to the development of research proposals and funding applications.Scientific Profile:1) Ph.D. in Biology or a related field with a strong focus on Cell and Developmental Biology.2) Proven expertise in in animal models such as Drosophila melanogaster and zebrafish.3) Extensive knowledge in cell and developmental biology, including epithelial repair, tissue morphogenesis, cell migration, and cytoskeletal and cell-cell junction dynamics.4) Proficiency in utilizing advanced microscopy approaches to manipulate and study cell and tissue behaviours (e.g., confocal laser-scanning and spinning disk microscopy, multi-photon microscopy).5) Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals, demonstrating the ability to contribute novel insights to the field.6) Experience in supervising and co-supervising students.7) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.8) Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.9) Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Rationale for Hiring:The recruitment for this position aligns with the strategic goals of iNOVA4Health to advance research excellence in Cell Biology.
