The iNOVA4Health FCT research unit will hire a skilled and motivated Principal Researcher with strong expertise in the neurodegenerative disorders and dysmetabolism. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research in the areas of Parkinson’s disease neurobiology and its crosstalk with metabolic diseases, with a specific focus on the identification of therapeutic targets with clinical impact.Key Responsibilities:1) Innovative Research: develop therapeutic and biomarker detection technologies that are innovative solutions in the field of Parkinson’s disease neurobiology and neurodegenerative-metabolic intersection.2) Advanced Methods: Utilize state-of-the-art pre-clinical research to modulate disease progression, with potential to be used for new pharma- or genetic-based approaches.3) Education and Training Programs: Developing education and training programs in neurobiology and metabolic diseases, aiming to prepare the next generation of researchers and healthcare workers in medical systems biology concepts.4) Collaborative Research: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including interdisciplinary groups, to advance research projects. Participate in joint ventures that bridge the gap between basic science and translational medicine.5) Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyse experimental data using statistical methods. Prepare and present research findings at internal meetings and scientific conferences. Contribute to the writing of research papers for publication in high impact peer-reviewed journals.6) Mentorship and Supervision: Mentor and supervise junior researchers and students. Provide guidance in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.7) Funding: Contribute to the development of research proposals and funding applications.Scientific Profile:1) Ph.D. in Biochemistry or a related field.2) Proven expertise in the identification of novel pathophysiological mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease.3) Proficiency in the development of novel strategies to identify and measure disease biomarkers.4) Proven expertise to perform pre-clinical animal research to modulate disease progression, with potential to be used for new pharma- or genetic-based approaches.5) Strong knowledge in proteomics for the identification of neuropathological pathway.5) Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals, demonstrating the ability to contribute novel insights to the field.6) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.7) Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.8) Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Rationale for Hiring:This recruitment aligns with iNOVA4Health goal to advance research excellence in Neurosciences, with particular focus in Parkinson’s disease pathobiology and therapeutics. Exploring the intersection of diabetes and Parkinson´s disease is a multidimensional endeavour with the potential to uncover novel insights into disease mechanisms, identify therapeutic targets, and ultimately improve our understanding and management of these complex health challenges. This position reflects our commitment to innovation and scientific leadership, positioning iNOVA4Health at the forefront of advancements in these disciplines. In addition to advancing internal research initiatives, the Principal Investigator in Metabolic Impact in Parkinson´s will play a pivotal role in fostering collaborative partnerships with healthcare institutions, pharmaceutical industries, and biomarkers companies. This strategic engagement with external stakeholders is essential for translating research findings into tangible clinical applications. By actively collaborating with the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, the successful candidate will facilitate the seamless integration of research outcomes into potential therapeutic interventions. Moreover, engagement with biomarkers industries will contribute to the identification and validation of novel biomarkers, enhancing diagnostic precision and treatment monitoring in Parkinson´s disease. This collaborative approach aligns with iNOVA4Health´s commitment to translational research, ensuring that scientific discoveries not only advance knowledge but also directly benefit patients and healthcare outcomes.
Beneficiários
