The NOVA Institute for Medical Systems Biology (NIMSB) will hire a skilled and motivated Assistant Researcher with a strong background in Molecular, Cell and Tissue Biology. The successful candidate will lead innovative research projects focused on the study of mechanisms of disease in physiological systems to advance capabilities in systems biology and precision medicine. Key Responsibilities:1) Innovative Research: Lead and conduct cutting-edge research projects in mechanisms of disease, focusing on the use of micro-physiological systems, such as organoids, or in animal model systems, developing and executing experimental protocols to study cellular and molecular mechanisms of disease.2) Molecular and Cell Biology: Apply advanced experimental protocols to investigate molecular and cellular responses and interactions relevant for understanding disease, using techniques such as cell culture, microscopy, flow cytometry, and molecular biology assays.3) Microphysiological Systems: Develop and refine in vitro physiological systems, such and organoids, to study mechanisms of disease, including differentiation and analysis of tissues derived from various cell types.4) Animal Models: Use animal model organisms for in vivo work, performing genetic, pharmacological, and surgical manipulations to study mechanisms of disease.5) Collaborative Research: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including interdisciplinary groups, to advance research projects. Participate in joint ventures that bridge the gap between basic science and translational regenerative medicine.6) Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyse experimental data using statistical methods. Prepare and present research findings at internal meetings and scientific conferences. Contribute to the writing of research papers for publication in high impact peer-reviewed journals.7) Mentorship and Supervision: Mentor and supervise junior researchers and students. Provide guidance in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.8) Funding: Contribute to the development of research proposals and funding applications. Scientific Profile:1) PhD in Biology or a related field.2) Minimum of 10 years postdoctoral experience in molecular, cell and tissue Biology.3) Demonstrated experience with tissue culture and animal models.4) Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to qRT-PCR, Western blotting, immuno-histochemistry, and gene editing tools.5) Publication record in mechanisms of disease or related disciplines.6) Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.7) Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.8) Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Hiring an Assistant Researcher with expertise in these areas is crucial for NIMSB to stay competitive and innovative in the global research landscape. The Assistant Researcher contributions will be able to integrate functional experiments with the advanced multiomics analysis and data science available at NIMSB, this role will push the boundaries of current knowledge and contribute to the development of next-generation treatments and diagnosis for various diseases, potentially offering significant improvements in patient outcomes. This strategic hire will strengthen NIMSB research capacity, enable new collaborative projects, secure research funding, and enhance the institutional reputation as a leader in systems biology and precision medicine research.
