Experience in teaching and/or supervision, at Master and eventually PhD level, and evidence of commitment to innovative pedagogical approaches, from a research-led teaching approach. Rationale The recruitment of an Assistant Researcher in Musicology specialising in Portuguese contemporary musical heritage is scientifically relevant for both the CESEM Research Unit and NOVA FCSH, as well as the Associated Laboratory IN2PAST. Despite significant progress in studying Portuguese contemporary music over recent decades, much remains unexplored, presenting numerous research opportunities. Post-1950 music complexity goes beyond traditional manuscripts and often involves technological elements. Engaging with scholarly discourse and the cultural scene, potential outputs can reach a wider audience. In Digital Europe, the integration of digital humanities is crucial for recovering, documenting, and valuing this heritage. Therefore, opening a permanent researcher position at CESEM is justified. Recruiting an Assistant Researcher in this area would (1) strengthen research within CESEM´s study groups of "Contemporary Music"; (2) develop CESEM´s Audio Preservation and Restoration Lab (LaPRA); (3) enhance CESEM´s international recognition; and (4) contribute to teaching and guidance at the postgraduate level, training a new generation of researchers. This position is crucial for advancing NOVA FCSH´s “Arts and Humanities” and “Memory and Heritage” strategic areas and for the presence of contemporary music within IN2PAST, particularly in Lines 1 (Science and Technology for Cultural Heritage) and 4 (Archives, from Preventive Preservation to Digitalization). In an area where technical means and human resources require further definition and implementation in public policies, the need for this position is evident.
