Position: Assistant Researcher in Historical Glazed Ceramics ???????Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Researcher in Historical Glazed Ceramics to join our dynamic team at NOVA FCT, VICARTE / Associate Laboratory for Green Chemistry - Clean Technologies and Processes . The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research in Conservation Science, with a specific focus on Archaeometry and Technical Art History of glazed tiles.Key tasks include the material characterisation of historical glazed ceramics, the replication of glaze and pigment recipes from historical treatises, and the study of degradation mechanisms. The researcher will contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge and the development of innovative solutions in the field.Responsibilities:To design and execute analytical protocols for the material characterisation of historical glazed ceramics in laboratory and in situ;To investigate the technological evolution of historical glazed ceramics and the technological transfer processes;To replicate glazes and pigments according to historical treatises and recipe books;To study the degradation mechanisms of glazed tiles, contributing to the development of better conservation strategies;To supervise MSc and PhD thesis in the field;To collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate findings into broader research initiatives.To contribute to the publication of research findings in reputable scientific journals.Scientific Profile: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:Ph.D. in Conservation and Restoration with a strong focus on Archaeometry or Technical Art History of glazed ceramics.Proven expertise in the material characterisation of historical glazed ceramics and the study of their production techniques, with a strong publication track record in the field;Proven capacity to attract further funding for the development of their research field;Supervision experience (MSc and PhD theses);Proficiency in utilising analytical techniques relevant to the field (i.e., X-ray spectrometry, Raman spectroscopy);Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
