An Assistant Professors in Innovation for Sustainability plays a critical role in advancing research, education, and outreach efforts aimed at addressing pressing economic, environmental and social challenges and promoting a more sustainable future. Through their work, the researcher will contribute to the development of innovative solutions that balance economic growth, environmental stewardship, and social equity .This position covers quite an open profile , with a multidisciplinary coverage including the support of socially impactful research driven by an entrepreneurial mindset and leadership for sustainability.University students need, and have been asking for, entrepreneurial skills . That doesn’t mean every student will be a start-up founder or entrepreneur, but the skill set is quite beneficial. Raising awareness, being creative and solution oriented, canvassing for sustainable development and envisioning a better world is half the way for actually forging a more sustainable values culture. One of its main objectives for the position is the development of entrepreneurial skills and education programmes designed to complement ISEG graduate and postgraduate portfolios. One of such examples is a badge programme already in preparation – the Civic Scholars Programme (CSP).The CSP is a transformative academic experience offered to Masters students from academic year 2025/26, as a competitive application procedure, by which a selected cohort of up to 25 students will be enrolled and supported in an impactful developmental path. The Sustainability Strategy is aligned with the SDGs and aims to be an inspiration and a guide for action for departments, research centres, partners, other institutions, as well as all the members of the ISEG community: students, faculty, and professional staff.ISEG already offers a rich post-graduate programme in sustainable innovation , including: Masters in Innovation and Research for Sustainability, Masters in Development and International Cooperation, Masters in Management (designed to develop a new generation of conscientious managers and leaders for all kinds of organisations by embracing the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations and the SDGs); PhD in Development Studies. And collaborating in other University of Lisbon inter-Faculties programmes like: Masters in Design for Sustainability, PhD in Sustainability Sciences, PhD in Agricultural Innovation in Tropical Food Chains or PhD in Population Sciences. The position holder is a keystone in articulating al this diversity and bringing about a focused portfolio of research-driven sustainability options. Working from within, it will embody impactful change.
