CIIMAR seek a highly qualified and motivated researcher to develop the scientific area of Biochemistry/Proteomics. The prospective candidate should develop this research area in close liaison with other priority areas of the Centre namely Ecotoxicology, Aquaculture and Ecosystem Services. This scientific area is considered of high relevance for CIIMAR, that aims to establish strong competencies in molecular research and, above all, in advanced techniques for high-throughput analysis of genes, proteins, and metabolites. This is in order to continue developing a science of excellence at the frontier of ocean knowledge and innovation. This scientific area remains poorly established in aquatic sciences and at CIIMAR; however, such expertise becomes essential on the ongoing projects and research developed at CIIMAR, which often involves in-depth understanding of the biology and physiology of aquatic species, mechanisms of adaptation and susceptibility to diseases, to unravel the functioning of oceans and ecosystems, and the impact of human activities and responses to global changes. Expertise in biochemistry and proteomics becomes as well important in two other CIIMAR relevant research areas devoted to the development of high-throughput screening strategies applied in discovery of new chemical and biological entities with potential clinical/biotechnological application and innovative mass spectrometry methods to assist microbial identification. These are indispensable methods to valorization of CIIMAR culture collection of microorganism.The candidate is expected to develop basic and applied research related to Proteomics and Environmental Toxicology (Ecotoxicology), to strengthen the interdisciplinary collaboration between the various research teams, and to seek external funding to support his/her research work. The researcher to be hired is also expected to build and lead a new research team at CIIMAR. The tasks attributed to this position include supervision of post-graduate candidates (MSc and PhD research projects), organization of advanced training courses and workshops, develop the technological platform of CIIMAR dedicated to proteomics, develop international cooperation and contribute to the international recognition and visibility of our Research Centre through the development of high impact research, and participation in transnational projects.CIIMAR seek a professional with the following skills/expertise: 1- experience in proteomics research (high-throughput methods); 2- analysis of proteomes of aquatic invertebrates and vertebrates; 3- experience in toxicology of cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins; 4- experience in the supervision of PhD and MSc projects; 5- demonstrated competences to obtain external funding and 6- experience in the coordination of scientific projects and leadership competences.
Beneficiaries
The two types are::
- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
Final evaluation score
The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.

Procurement
Beneficiaries representing public entities implement their project by signing one or more contracts with suppliers for goods or services through public procurement procedures.
To ensure and provide the utmost transparency in all these contracts, a list of the contracts that were signed under this project is available here, along with the information available on the Base.Gov platform. Please note that, according to the legislation in force at the time the contract was signed, some exceptions do not require the publication of the contracts signed on this platform, and, therefore, no information is available in such cases.
