CAMGSD, established in 1991, is a research unit in pure mathematics whose main scientific pillars are the broad areas of (i) differential equations and dynamical systems and (ii) geometry and topology, including topics in mathematical physics such as mathematical relativity, quantum field theory and string theory, and it has consistently received Excellent in every FCT evaluation.Mathematical physics, in particular, is a fast developing area of the center, in particular in subfields where geometry and analysis intersect such as mathematical relativity. Important contributions to this development could come from more effective collaborations between members of different areas of CAMGSD as well as with physicists. In order to make such bridges, the center would crucially benefit if it were reinforced by a strong researcher with expertise across areas of differential equations, dynamical systems and their applications to gravitational physics. Such a reinforcement has both the benefit of complementing the existing expertise of the center, and of rejuvenating its team, and it is a crucial step towards ensuring its sustainable international standing in the long run.The tasks that the hired researcher will perform will include: (1) to conduct research in the identified areas and to publish its results in high ranking journals; (2) to disseminate the results of the research in international scientific events; (3) to collaborate in the organization of seminars at CAMGSD that promote knowledge around the topics just described, in particular inviting researchers from other institutions, both national and foreign; (4) to organize or host local and international scientific events; (5) to apply for grants of various types, e.g., ERC grants, in the areas identified, both those in pure mathematics and those with emphasis on applications, so as to attract additional funding that will promote the growth of the activities in this area, taking advantage of the Research & Innovation Funding support structure of IST-ID, in particular the ERC accelerator program; (6) to collaborate in the advanced training and supervision of students and postdoctoral fellows; (7) to collaborate in opportunities that may arise from the interaction with other R&D units of IST-ID with activity in physics and mathematical physics, such as CENTRA and GFM.At CAMGSD we have identified excellent potential candidates amongst those that are eligible for the FCT Tenure program, in particular candidates that currently have temporary contracts with IST-ID as researchers of CAMGSD, and whom we know will be interested in applying for a research position at CAMGSD that fits the profile here described.
Beneficiaries
The two types are::
- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
Final evaluation score
The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.

Procurement
Beneficiaries representing public entities implement their project by signing one or more contracts with suppliers for goods or services through public procurement procedures.
To ensure and provide the utmost transparency in all these contracts, a list of the contracts that were signed under this project is available here, along with the information available on the Base.Gov platform. Please note that, according to the legislation in force at the time the contract was signed, some exceptions do not require the publication of the contracts signed on this platform, and, therefore, no information is available in such cases.
