Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will spearhead research focusing on the broader implications of climate change and geophysics, encompassing a wide range of hazards, such as floods, tsunamis, storm surges and coastal erosion, wildfires, and landslides. This role emphasizes the development of comprehensive risk analysis, innovative disaster management strategies, and the integration of these findings into territorial planning and emergency preparedness. Collaborative efforts with various stakeholders, including emergency planning agencies and territorial planning authorities, will be crucial to implementing adaptable and resilient disaster management solutions.Scientific ProfileWe seek a candidate with a Ph.D. in Geography, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, or closely related disciplines, with a strong emphasis on climate change impacts, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable planning. The ideal profile includes extensive experience in interdisciplinary research methodologies, modeling across various disasters, and the ability to integrate scientific findings into actionable planning and policy frameworks. A proven publication record in top-tier journals on disaster risk management, climate change adaptation, and resilience building, alongside skills in community engagement and emergency preparedness, is highly desirable.RationaleAdapting to and mitigating the disaster risks posed by geohazards and climate hazards is a critical priority for the global community, aligning with the United Nations´ Sustainable Development Goals and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. The proposed scientific profile supports CEG and IGOT´s strategic objectives by enhancing research capabilities in disaster risk management, contributing to innovative planning and emergency preparedness strategies, and fostering resilience in communities facing the threat of disasters, including those induced by ongoing climate change. This role will not only advance scientific understanding but also facilitate the practical application of research findings to safeguard vulnerable communities and prepare vulnerable territories.

Beneficiaries

Within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, two types of beneficiaries are responsible for carrying out the projects and using the funding provided. Due to their similar role, the reference to these two types of beneficiaries has been simplified and unified under the term "Beneficiary".
The two types are::
  • Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
  • Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.

Call for applications

As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.

The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.

Final evaluation score

8,4
Important note

The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.
