The Assistant Professor in Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FMV-ULisboa), in collaboration with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Animal Health (CIISA) and the Associated Laboratory for Animal and Veterinary Science (AL4AnimalS), is instrumental in advancing research and teaching activities. The Assistant Professor will collaborate in research, teaching, routine laboratory activities, establishing partnerships. The Assistant Professor to hire should accomplish the following criteria:PhD in Veterinary Medicine;Expertise of at least 10 years in classification and identification of specimens;At least 6 years of post-doctoral experience in Parasitology considering the candidate role to perform routine and research activities at the Laboratory of Parasitology and Parasitic DiseasesRelevant expertise in laboratorial techniques as conventional, molecular and other approaches either for diagnosis and research in Arthropodology, Protozoology and Helminthology;Able to implement new tools for diagnosis and researchAble to correlate epidemiological studies in vector borne pathogens;Proven experience in the area of the application, through original scientific publications;Experience as researcher in scientific projects;Experience in teaching (theoretical and practical classes) and supervising students;Excellent communication skills (oral and written);Ability and willingness to contribute to the common objectives of FMV/ULisboaThe need for these strict criteria is due to the rapid evolution of current techniques required for parasitological studies worldwide, and the need for transversal skills in international teams, promoting close collaboration between institutions and researchers. In addition, major changes are expected in the Integrated Master in Veterinary Medicine course, particularly in Parasitology, by 2028, both in terms of the number of retiring professors and in terms of new curricular units for which the teaching of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases will require an adequate number of lecturers with research experience. Furthermore, the candidate will participate in other Masters degrees, optative curricular units and post-graduation courses. This recruitment request makes it possible to retain and attract talent, in addition to strengthening and rejuvenating the current group of career researchers and/or teachers, valuing and including different profiles, paths and contributions in science and teaching. It is also expected to increase the dynamics of research and publication at FMV extending to national and international interdisciplinary context, thereby increasing the production of knowledge in One Health, under the scope of CIISA and AL4AnimalS thematic research areas and lines.

Beneficiaries

Within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, two types of beneficiaries are responsible for carrying out the projects and using the funding provided. Due to their similar role, the reference to these two types of beneficiaries has been simplified and unified under the term "Beneficiary".
The two types are::
  • Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
  • Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.

Call for applications

As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.

The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.

Final evaluation score

9,2
Important note

The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.
