The Assistant Professor to be hired will be a versatile biologist engaged in cutting-edge research and with a focus on Marine Ichthyology. The ideal candidate will have expertise in marine ecology and biology, with a focus on addressing complex challenges stemming from global climate change.Responsibilities:Engage in collaborative interdisciplinary research aimed understanding of fish populations and marine biodiversity in order to aid decision-making for more sustainable development and the evolution of marine biology and conservation practices.Develop relevant research in marine ichthyology, particularly in fish biology, ecology, and life history, aiming to address pressing issues related to fisheries, conservation, and ecosystem health.Design and implement long-term monitoring programmes to assess the impact of environmental change, climate variability and human activities on marine fish and marine ecosystems, together with the use of a range of methodologies including field surveys, laboratory experiments and data analysis.Foccus on the use of fish nursery habitats and population structure across extensive geographical regions, utilizing fish otoliths as natural markers to reconstruct individual life and environmental history, as well as population connectivity (i.e., fish stock structure)Conduct research with a high potential for national and international impact, contributing to the advancement of Marine Ichthyology research.Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Marine Ichthyology, and related subjects, delivering stimulating and informative lectures and practical sessions.Supervise postgraduate research students, guiding them in their academic and research endeavours.Fulfil management and administrative duties essential to the effective functioning of the academic department. Call for applications
