Summary

This position targets one Early Career Researcher (ECR) in Privacy in Web3 and Decentralisation Technologies, with a strong background in distributed computing, and cybersecurity, with particular emphasis in Byzantine-resilient protocols, blockchains and distributed cryptographic protocols. Additional background in advanced statistics, distributed computing theory and formal methods for distributed systems is also desired.Suitable candidates are expected to conduct high-profile scientific research to advance the state of the art in decentralised systems, block chains and distributed cryptographic protocols, with particular emphasis in the design of novel techniques for supporting privacy in Web3 and blockchain services. This is an important and timely topic in which LASIGE have been contributing in the years, and in which it wants to increase its expertise.The admitted candidate is expected to successfully integrate LASIGE and collaborate with existing researchers working in areas such as security, fault tolerance, and cryptography, eventually participating in ongoing national and international projects tackling these topics.Candidates should have a strong publication record in top-tier journals and conferences. Experience in writing grant proposals to secure funding for future research initiatives will be much valued. They should be able to present research findings effectively in oral and written form and actively participate in international fora in the field, such as renowned conferences, high-tier workshops or thematic schools.The successful candidate will be expected to mentor and supervise MSc and PhD students, in alignment with LASIGE’s core objectives of developing a scientific culture that promotes excellence, while maintaining a healthy research environment. Moreover, they will be responsible for teaching advanced courses in Cybersecurity, Distributed Systems, Internet of Things and Cyber-physical systems, and previous teaching experience will be valued, in particular, experience in designing hands-on laboratory activities and seamlessly integrating novel scientific developments in both first and second-cycle curricula.
