Summary

This position targets one Early Career Researcher (ECR) in Security in Artifical Intelligence (AI) systems, with a strong background in cybersecurity, machine learning (ML) and other AI techniques. Previous knowledge in systems, distributed computing and cryptography are also desired for this profile.Suitable candidates are expected to conduct high-profile scientific research to advance the state of the art in dependable systems, with particular focus on the dependability and security of machine learning for critical applications. This is an important and timely topic in which LASIGE aims to increase its expertise.The admitted candidate is expected to successfully integrate LASIGE and collaborate with existing researchers working in areas such as security, fault tolerance, and artificial intelligence, eventually participating in ongoing national and international projects tackling these topics.Candidates should have a strong publication record in top-tier journals and conferences. Experience in writing grant proposals to secure funding for future research initiatives will be much valued. They should be able to present research findings effectively in oral and written form and actively participate in international fora in the field, such as renowned conferences, high-tier workshops or thematic schools.The successful candidate will be expected to mentor and supervise MSc and PhD students, in alignment with LASIGE’s core objectives of developing a scientific culture that promotes excellence, while maintaining a healthy research environment. Moreover, they will be responsible for teaching advanced courses in Cybersecurity, Distributed systems, Internet of Things and Cyber-physical systems, and previous teaching experience will be valued, in particular, experience in designing hands-on laboratory activities and seamlessly integrating novel scientific developments in both first and second-cycle curricula.

Beneficiaries

Within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, two types of beneficiaries are responsible for carrying out the projects and using the funding provided. Due to their similar role, the reference to these two types of beneficiaries has been simplified and unified under the term "Beneficiary".
The two types are::
  • Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
  • Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.

Call for applications

As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.

The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
