iBiMED´s research program has grown significantly in recent years, enhancing the University of Aveiro Health Sciences Program´s national and international standing. We prioritize sustainable research and promote its societal impact. As part of the new Academic Clinical Centre (CAC-EHMA), in collaboration with Aveiro (CHBV), Santa Maria da Feira (CHEDV), Gaia/Espinho (CHVNG/E) hospitals, and several Health Centres in the Aveiro and Aveiro-Northern regions, we aim to improve working conditions, upgrade biomedical research facilities, and introduce new clinical and translational research initiatives, thereby creating opportunities for young researchers.With the FCT Tenure we are seeking to hire a highly skilled and motivated research scientist to join iBiMED´s program on the scientific area of biological and / or Medical Sciences with expertise in Biomedicine, tissue engineering and bioengineering. This research unit is located within the Department of Medical Sciences (DCM), thus simultaneously the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the growth and development of the department. Complex pre-clinical models, including different materials and cell types, combined with advanced bioengineering tools, are crucial to understand complex traits such as cancer but also reproductive, cardiovascular or neurodegenerative diseases.The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a platform to support the development of pre-clinical and humanized models, in particular using 3D-invitro cell culture platforms, envisaged to understand disease comprehension and biomedical research. The hired researcher will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to advance our understanding of diseases.The work is expected to be transversal with the different expertises of iBiMED, and to contribute to the development of novel knowledge leading to novel treatments. It is expected that the candidate will also participate in the management of the institute through active contributions in the meetings of the scientific council, and to bring innovative ideas and cutting-edge research that acts synergistically with the research we have underway.Expected scientific profile for the hired researcher includes, but is not limited to:Expertise in the development of pre-clinical models to investigate different disease stages, in particular in the related areas of cancer, development and regeneration. Have the capacity to work in a multidisciplinary approach and show evidence of intent to transfer the knowhow to the productive economic sector.Compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements when working with patients’ samples and/or data.Knowledge of new technologies with impact on the biomedical research will be valued.Knowledge on the preparation of scientific reports and high-impact publications, presentation, and communication of findings at meetings and recognized scientific conferences.Evidence in successful applications for funding, as PI or team member, in particular from European competitive calls.It is mandatory that the candidate has a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biomedicine or a related field, and a strong background in biomedicine or bioengineering. It is expected that the hired researcher has a productive and extended CV on the subject area, including proven experience in a wide range of techniques. Knowledge of proteomics, genomics or metabolomics, bioinformatics, advanced biomaterials, 3D cell culture platforms, tissue engineering or molecular and cellular biology will be valued.In summary, FCT tenure will be instrumental in advancing iBiMED´s understanding of complex processes and identify potential therapeutic strategies. The know-how on pre-clinical model design will contribute to iBiMED´s affirmation on the national and international scene and will foster collaboration with other national and international institutions.FCT tenure will be essential to drive our research efforts forward and achieve our scientific goals. Understanding molecular processes and devise therapeutic strategies is an important cornerstone for iBiMED. By expanding knowledge in this area, we can enhance our partnerships, including the CAC-EHMA, accelerating the development of novel findings likely to result in innovative treatments.
Beneficiaries
The two types are::
- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
Final evaluation score
The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.

Procurement
Beneficiaries representing public entities implement their project by signing one or more contracts with suppliers for goods or services through public procurement procedures.
To ensure and provide the utmost transparency in all these contracts, a list of the contracts that were signed under this project is available here, along with the information available on the Base.Gov platform. Please note that, according to the legislation in force at the time the contract was signed, some exceptions do not require the publication of the contracts signed on this platform, and, therefore, no information is available in such cases.
