Summary

iBiMED´s research program has grown significantly in recent years, enhancing the University of Aveiro Health Sciences Program´s national and international standing. We prioritize sustainable research and promote its societal impact. As part of the new Academic Clinical Centre (CAC-EHMA), in collaboration with Aveiro (CHBV), Santa Maria da Feira (CHEDV), Gaia/Espinho (CHVNG/E) hospitals, and several Health Centres in the Aveiro and Aveiro-Northern regions, we aim to improve working conditions, upgrade biomedical research facilities, and introduce new clinical and translational research initiatives, thereby creating opportunities for young researchers.With the FCT Tenure we are seeking to hire a highly skilled and motivated research scientist to join iBiMED´s program on the scientific area of biological and / or Medical Sciences with expertise in bioinformatic tools for Biomedicine. This research unit is located within the Department of Medical Sciences (DCM), thus simultaneously the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the growth and development of the department. Integrative approachs making sense of different datasets are crucial to understand complex traits such as cancer, reproductive, cardiovascular or neurodegenerative diseases.The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing a platform to support our research objectives on the evaluation, analysis and development of tools for disease comprehension and biomedical research. The hired researcher will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to advance our understanding of diseases at the transcriptome, metabolome or proteome levels.The work is expected to contribute to the development of novel knowledge leading to novel treatments. It is expected that the candidate will also participate in the management of the institute through active contributions in the meetings of the scientific council, and to bring innovative ideas and cutting-edge research that acts synergistically with the research we have underway.Expected scientific profile for the hired researcher includes, but is not limited to:Design bioinformatic tools to investigate disease mechanisms, in particular in the related areas of cancer, development and regeneration. Have the capacity to work in a multidisciplinary approach and show evidence of intent to transfer the knowhow to the productive economic sector.Compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements when working with patients data.Knowledge of a new technology with an impact on biomedical research will be valued.Knowledge on the preparation of scientific reports and high-impact publications, presentation, and communication of findings at meetings and recognized scientific conferences.Evidence in successful applications for funding, as PI or team member.It is mandatory that the candidate has a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in biomedicine or a relevant field, and a strong background in omics research. It is expected that the hired researcher has a productive and extended CV on the subject area, including proven experience in a wide range of techniques, including proteomics, genomics or metabolomics, bioinformatics and molecular and cellular biology. Given the multidisciplinary nature of iBiMED and UA, the development of state-of-the-art platforms such as metabolomics, proteomics and/or lipidomics, it is expected that the hired researcher has the ability to analyze complex data sets and interpret results.In summary, FCT tenure will be instrumental in advancing iBiMED´s understanding of complex processes and identify potential therapeutic strategies. The know-how on experimental design and data analysis will contribute to iBiMED´s affirmation on the national and international scene.FCT tenure will be essential to drive our research efforts forward and achieve our scientific goals. Understanding molecular processes and devise therapeutic strategies is an important cornerstone for iBiMED.  By expanding knowledge in this area, we can enhance our partnerships, including the CAC-EHMA, accelerating the development of novel findings likely to result in innovative treatments.

Beneficiaries

Within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, two types of beneficiaries are responsible for carrying out the projects and using the funding provided. Due to their similar role, the reference to these two types of beneficiaries has been simplified and unified under the term "Beneficiary".
The two types are::
  • Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
  • Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.

Call for applications

As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.

The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.

Final evaluation score

8,3
Important note

The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.

Selection criteria

The funding selection criteria to which this project and its final beneficiary were subject and its score can be found in detail on the Recuperar Portugal platform.

Procurement

Beneficiaries representing public entities implement their project by signing one or more contracts with suppliers for goods or services through public procurement procedures.

To ensure and provide the utmost transparency in all these contracts, a list of the contracts that were signed under this project is available here, along with the information available on the Base.Gov platform. Please note that, according to the legislation in force at the time the contract was signed, some exceptions do not require the publication of the contracts signed on this platform, and, therefore, no information is available in such cases.
