The prospective employee will be a university professor and researcher. Such a person plays a multifaceted and pivotal role in the academic landscape, contributing significantly to the realms of education and knowledge creation. As educators, professors engage in the transfer of knowledge to the next generation, fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of their respective fields. They design and deliver lectures, mentor students, and assess their academic progress, all while inspiring a passion for learning.Simultaneously, professors are avid researchers who push the boundaries of knowledge in their chosen disciplines. Through rigorous investigation, experimentation, and analysis, they seek to uncover new insights, challenge existing paradigms, and contribute to the academic canon. Research findings are often disseminated through publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference presentations, and collaborations with other experts in the field. The dual role of professor and researcher enables them to bring the latest advancements and discoveries directly into the classroom, enriching the educational experience for students and fostering an environment of intellectual curiosity.Beyond the classroom and research endeavors, professors may also engage in community outreach, professional service, and interdisciplinary collaborations, further enriching the academic ecosystem. Their influence extends beyond the university campus, shaping the future of their disciplines and contributing to the advancement of society as a whole. Overall, the job of a university professor and researcher is a dynamic and intellectually fulfilling endeavor that combines teaching, research, and service to make enduring contributions to academia and the broader world.In summary, the major tasks to be assigned to the prospective employee are:To prepare and teach undergraduate and graduate courses;To perform top-level scientific research in the scientific area of the position.The decision to hire a university professor specializing in Graphics and Interaction (IG) stems from the critical role this scientific area plays in understanding and advancing the interaction between humans and computing technologies. IG is a dynamic field that encompasses two pivotal disciplines: Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Computer Graphics (CG). The interdisciplinary nature of this area allows faculty and students to explore the intricate ways in which technology influences human lives, fosters innovation, and contributes to the greater public good. DEI and the host labs already have faculty/researchers in the area, but more are needed to cover teaching and research needs.Human-Computer Interaction focuses on interpreting human behavior and development through social and ethical analyses, examining how individuals adapt and use technology. This lens enables the development of technology, tools, and design methods that not only enhance efficiency but also promote creativity in design. The hiring of a professor in HCI is driven by the recognition of the profound impact technology has on society, necessitating expertise in understanding the human aspects of interaction with computing systems.On the other hand, Computer Graphics synthesizes digital realms, bringing people together in physical, online, and asynchronous communities. This synthesis empowers individuals to invent, inspire, fabricate, and redefine creative and technical artifacts, disciplines, and industries touched by interactive techniques. The hiring of a professor in Computer Graphics reflects the need to cultivate expertise in the synthesis of digital and interactive elements, driving innovation and creative expression across various fields.The overarching goal of hiring a professor in IG is to bridge the gap between human experience and technology, fostering a deep understanding of how these two elements intersect and shape each other. This expertise is crucial in preparing students to design and develop technologies that are not only technically proficient but also socially responsible and considerate of human needs and values.In an era where technology is deeply integrated into everyday life, a professor and researcher in IG plays a key role in shaping the future landscape of human-computer interaction and computer graphics. By delving into the social, ethical, and technical dimensions of these disciplines, the university ensures that its students are not only well-versed in the latest technologies but also equipped to contribute meaningfully to the responsible and innovative evolution of interactive systems.
Beneficiaries
The two types are::
- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
Final evaluation score
The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.
