REQUIMTE is seeking an Assistant Researcher in the field of Chemistry with emphasis in analytical development for targeted and untargeted metabolomics.The ideal candidate will be a potential research leader as well as a scientific leader for analytical chemistry directed to chemical biology studies, and who has clear research visions, educational and administrative skills. Research at the REQUIMTE vary from organic chemistry, physical-chemistry, chemical engineering, chemical biology, biochemistry, food chemistry, computational chemistry to molecular biophysics.Key tasks include the development of an independent research line that focuses on application and/or method development aiming at metabolomic studies, particularly the search of small molecule biomarkers to ascertain the health to disease transition in different pathologies. An important part of the tasks is to provide training for (PhD)-students and Post Docs in cooperation with multidisciplinary teams. The successful applicant must be able to supervise Master and PhD students and to teach at all levels.Key responsibilities include:The assistant researcher is expected to establish an independent and internationally recognized research profile in analytical development for metabolomic studies.Follow developments within the subject area and the development of society in general that is important for the work at REQUIMTE.Contribute to the supervision of second- and third-cycle students.We expect the successful candidate to value and participate in the general academic work at University of Porto .Scientific Profile: The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:Ph.D. in Chemistry, Engineering, or in a related field with a strong focus on complex analytical systems.Skills on analytical method development based on targeted and untargeted approaches.Advanced knowledge in mass spectrometry, including high- and low-resolution mass analyzers.Knowledge on advanced data analysis.Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals, demonstrating the ability to contribute novel insights to the field.Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Rationale: The recruitment of an Assistant Researcher in the field of Chemistry with expertise in analytical development for targeted and untargeted metabolomics aligns with our institution´s strategic goals in advancing research in Chemical Biology. The emphasis in metabolomics is justified to reinforce our team of researchers that focus on fundamental and curiosity driven research while addressing important research topics in close collaboration with industry, health care and societal bodies. The expertise of the successful candidate will significantly contribute to ongoing research projects focusing on research in the chemical biology area, particularly on the search of biomarkers for establishing the health-to-disease transition and will strengthen our institutional capabilities in this critical area, included in the SDG Goal 3 - Good Health and Well-Being. The appointed Assistant Researcher will join the Associated Laboratory for Green Chemistry (LAQV) at Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto research unit. The research topic is also in alignment with LAQV-REQUIMTE scientific strategy. This position reflects our commitment to staying at the forefront of scientific discovery and making meaningful contributions to the field of chemical biology, particularly in what concerns health aspects.
Beneficiaries
The two types are::
- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
Final evaluation score
The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.
