This position aims to develop research activities in the thematic area of education, training, and work, in particular on its articulation with professions, organizations and families, from a sociological approach and with particular emphasis on contributions to public policies. The researcher will be expected to design and carry out research projects and studies, publish and disseminate results and analyses, both nationally and internationally, establish partnerships and institutional collaborations, supervise theses and dissertations and collaborate in teaching activities within the established limits for researchers, in particular in masters’ and PhD programmes or in specialised curricular units of 1st cycle courses. The researcher to be hired should have experience of research and coordination of research projects and studies in sociology in the thematic areas of education, training, and work specially in the fields of professions, organizations, and families. The researcher should also have experience of articulating research in these areas with public policies and collaborative studies with public institutions. This profile is aligned with the activities carried out within the scope of CIES´ two research groups – Inequality, Work and Social Well-Being and Education and Science - and will allow the Centre to consolidate and strengthen, in a sustained manner, research activity in the areas of sociology of education and sociology of work, which has shown solid growth in recent years, both through scientific advances and through the response that CIES has given to requests from public organisations to carry out studies with an impact on public policies. It is also expected that the researcher will articulate the research activity with the teaching of relevant content in master´s or in one of the seven doctoral programmes managed by CIES. The researcher is also expected to align their research activities with the Thematic Line 2 – Promoting Inclusion, Equality and Citizenship of the SocioDigital Lab for Public Policy. In summary, alignment of research interests should be with the goals of the Research Unit (https://cies.iscte-iul.pt/) and of the SocioDigital Lab for Public Policy (https://sociodigitallab.iscte-iul.pt/).
