Summary

The position is expected to work on health-related quality of life including dimensions of working conditions, families, and lifestyles and inform public policies on the promotion of healthier lifestyles and work environments, based on evidence-based and data-based analyses of health. These positions require the capacity to design and execute sociological research studies to investigate the social determinants of health and their impact on public policy outcomes, as well as to collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to generate insights into health disparities and policy effectiveness. It is important to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including public health professionals, policymakers, and community stakeholders, to develop comprehensive and inclusive policy solutions and to engage in partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, and advocacy groups to enhance the impact of sociological insights on health policy. The researchers should have proven experience in conducting sociological research related to health and public policy, strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets, excellent written and verbal communication skills; have demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams; and knowledge of current trends, issues, and debates in the fields of sociology, health, and public policy. The researcher will be expected to design and carry out research projects and studies, publish and disseminate results and analyses, both nationally and internationally, establish partnerships and institutional collaborations, supervise theses and dissertations, and collaborate in teaching activities within the established limits for researchers in masters’ and PhD programmes or in specialised curricular units of 1st cycle courses. The researcher should have international research experience of coordination of projects and studies in the thematic fields of inequality and/or migrations. Experience articulating research in these areas with public policy and collaborative studies with public institutions is also relevant. It is expected the researcher will align their activities within the scope of CIES’ research groups – Family, Generations and Health and thereby contribute to the development of what is a developing field of research at CIES.  Furthermore, the researcher is expected to contribute to one of the Observatories or Laboratories working in the health-related fields (Nascer - The Laboratory for the Social Sciences of Childbirth or with the future U-Health Observatory for Health and Well-being in Higher Education). This involves participation with on-going activities, such as collection, analyses, and presentation of data, production of new knowledge, contribution to policymaking, and providing platforms for citizen engagement and feedback. The researcher is also expected to align their research activities with the Societal Health Thematic Line of the SocioDigital Lab for Public Policy. In summary, alignment of research interests should be with the goals of the Research Unit (https://cies.iscte-iul.pt/) and of the SocioDigital Lab for Public Policy (https://sociodigitallab.iscte-iul.pt/).

Beneficiaries

Within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, two types of beneficiaries are responsible for carrying out the projects and using the funding provided. Due to their similar role, the reference to these two types of beneficiaries has been simplified and unified under the term "Beneficiary".
The two types are::
  • Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
  • Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.

Call for applications

As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.

The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.

Final evaluation score

8,7
Important note

The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.
