The mission of the Infection, Immunity and Regeneration (IIR) of the i3S Program is to conduct ground-breaking fundamental and translation research aimed at comprehending and addressing how our organism interacts and responds to pathogens, cancer and biomaterials, and stimulates tissue repair and regeneration. The IIR program is reinforcing its research capacity in tissue repair and regeneration, placing a particular emphasis on Bioengineering. The integration of different scientific expertise, crucial for exploring and understanding the complex interplays between bioengineered materials and biological tissue dynamics, is central to the IRR program´s research areas. Through such initiative, the IIR program will potentiate innovative regenerative approaches in the domain of regenerative medicine.As part of the IIR research groups, the Assistant Researcher will be instrumental in i) driving forward the development of new biomaterials designed to synergize with living tissues for enhanced regenerative outcomes, ii) investigating biomaterials integration and performance in tissue regeneration applications, iii) building models of tissue-material interactions that are crucial for informing the design of future regenerative solutions. Furthermore, the Assistant Researcher is expected to participate actively to attract research funds to conduct scientific projects in Bioengineering. This multifaceted position also involves educational activities, wherein the researcher will mentor and supervise doctoral and master´s candidates, and participate in advanced training courses, as well as will support knowledge dissemination and skill development in the field of Bioengineering, increase science awareness by participating in the i3S educational program and outreach activities, and provide operational support to the laboratory.IIR program welcomes candidates who hold a PhD in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on Bioengineering, and who have more than five years of post-PhD experience with robust scientific background in Biomaterial science, Biomaterials/cells or tissues interfaces, tissue engineering and/or organ biomimetic models. The selected candidate should have demonstrated scientific independence through original research contributions to peer-reviewed publications. He/she should also have experience in leading research projects, a proven track record in obtaining funding to support his/her research and a record of active participation in the scientific community, including delivering impactful lectures and presentations at national and international conferences.The Assistant Researcher position at i3S represents a chance to lead in a field of research that is pivotal to advance human health outcomes.
Beneficiaries
The two types are::
- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
Final evaluation score
The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.
