The prospective Psychiatry Professor will be responsible for a range of academic, research, and clinical tasks within the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. The tasks assigned to this position may include, but are not limited to: Teaching and Academic Responsibilities :Conducting lectures, seminars, and workshops for undergraduate and postgraduate students in psychiatry.Developing and updating curriculum content to reflect advancements in the field.Mentoring and supervising graduate students, residents, and fellows in their research and clinical activities. Research and Scholarship :Engaging in cutting-edge research in the field of psychiatry with a focus on specific areas of interest or expertise.Publishing research findings in reputable scientific journals and presenting at conferences.Collaborating with interdisciplinary research teams to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in psychiatry. Clinical Responsibilities :Supervising and guiding medical residents and fellows in clinical settings.Service and Collaboration:Participating in departmental meetings, and committees, and contributing to the overall governance of the institution.Collaborating with other departments, healthcare institutions, and external organizations to foster interdisciplinary research and clinical initiatives. Scientific Profile Required :The ideal candidate for the Psychiatry Professor position should possess the following qualifications and attributes: Education :An advanced degree (MD or equivalent) in Psychiatry with a specialization in a specific area of focus. Research Experience :A strong and demonstrated track record of independent and collaborative research in psychiatry.Proven ability to secure external research funding. Teaching and Mentorship :Experience in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with evidence of effective and innovative teaching methods.Demonstrated ability to mentor and supervise graduate students and clinical trainees. Clinical Competence :Board certification and a valid medical license.Substantial clinical experience in psychiatric care.The hiring of a Psychiatry Professor is essential to:Enhance the academic and research profile in Psychiatry of the Clinical Neuroscience and Mental Health Department.Contribute to the education and training of the next generation of psychiatrists.Strengthen the institution´s research capabilities and productivity in the field of psychiatry and mental health.The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing the institution´s reputation, fostering collaborative research endeavors, and maintaining excellence in psychiatric education and clinical care.

Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
