Summary

The Assistant Professor in Otorhinolaryngology plays a pivotal role in advancing the academic and clinical missions of the Department of Surgery and Physiology, responsible for educating future otolaryngologists, conducting impactful research, and delivering high-quality patient care. By recruiting a skilled otolaryngologist with expertise in a specific subspecialty area, we aim to enhance our residency training program, expand our research endeavors, and improve ENT outcomes for patients while preparing the next generation of otorhinolaryngology leaders to meet the evolving healthcare needs of our community and beyond.Tasks and Responsibilities:Teach and mentor medical students, ENT residents, and fellows in diagnosing and managing otorhinolaryngological disorders, including otology, rhinology, laryngology, head and neck surgery, and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery.Lead didactic lectures, case conferences, surgical skills labs, and interdisciplinary conferences to educate trainees on ENT anatomy, pathophysiology, diagnostic evaluation, treatment modalities, and surgical techniques.Supervise and instruct residents in the clinic and operating room, providing hands-on guidance and feedback on patient evaluation, diagnostic procedures, treatment planning, and surgical interventions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.Participate in the clinical care of ENT patients, including outpatient consultations, surgical procedures, inpatient rounds, and emergency ENT services, focusing on subspecialty areas of expertise (e.g., otology, rhinology, head and neck oncology).Conduct scholarly research in otorhinolaryngology, focusing on clinical outcomes, surgical innovations, health services research, or other relevant areas, leading to peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of healthcare providers, researchers, and industry partners to advance ENT knowledge, develop innovative treatments, and improve patient care delivery.Engage in academic leadership and administrative roles within the department and residency program, including curriculum development, resident evaluation, committee membership, and faculty mentorship.Stay current with advancements in otorhinolaryngology, ENT research, and technological innovations, and incorporate new knowledge into teaching, research, and clinical practice.Scientific Profile Required:Hold a PhD and an MD or equivalent degree from an accredited medical school.Board certification or eligibility in Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), with expertise in a specific ENT subspecialty area (e.g., otology, rhinology, head and neck surgery).Demonstrated commitment to ENT education, evidenced by teaching awards, educational leadership roles, or involvement in resident training programs.Track record of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations at ENT conferences, and participation in ENT research projects.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with learners, colleagues, and interdisciplinary teams.Eligibility for academic appointment at the Assistant Professor level in the affiliated medical school.
