Summary

The prospective employee is expected to work as a Principal Investigator in the field of Intelligent Health Data Analysis (IHDA). The employee is expected to work in research and teaching activities at the Department of Community Medicine, Information and Health Decision Sciences (MEDCIDS) of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. In particular, the employee is expected to work on data governance and modelling, machine learning, time series analysis and other IHDA for clinical research and decision support in the digital health technologies framework. The employee is expected to have knowledge and experience in doing research and teaching in these fields. In addition, the employee is expected to have a background in applied mathematics and knowledge and experience in intelligent data analysis applied to health data.MEDCIDS has a relevant research and teaching track record in the IHDA field. This is indicated by (i) the high number of studies published by its members involving machine learning and other intelligent data analysis methodologies applied to health data, (ii) the participation of some of its members in funded scientific projects in intelligent health data analysis, (iii) and by the participation in technology transfer and services provision activities (involving public, private, national or international entities). This research activity is done in close connection with the Associate Laboratory RISE (Health Research Network). In fact, Thematic Line 4 of RISE has, among its main scientific fields, those of big data, artificial intelligence, patient-centred technologies, medical informatics and digital transformation.MEDCIDS has also displayed a vibrant teaching activity in the IHDA field, particularly by hosting a PhD programme in Health Data Science with an Intelligent Health Data Analysis branch and the BSc course Digital Health and Biomedical Innovation with a Data Analysis and Artificial Intelligence in Health branch. Of note, several of the partners of this BSc course correspond to public or private entities with whom MEDCIDS has collaborated in technology transfer or service provision activities. In addition, IHDA methods, such as Data Mining in Healthcare, Probabilistic Models and Machine learning for clinical decision support, are taught in the Master Programme in Medical Informatics (also hosted at MEDCIDS).Given this background and the need to further develop research and teaching activities in this field, hiring a Principal Investigator in the IHDA area is necessary.

Beneficiaries

Within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, two types of beneficiaries are responsible for carrying out the projects and using the funding provided. Due to their similar role, the reference to these two types of beneficiaries has been simplified and unified under the term "Beneficiary".
The two types are::
  • Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
  • Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.

Call for applications

As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.

The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.

Final evaluation score

8,2
Important note

The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.

Selection criteria

The funding selection criteria to which this project and its final beneficiary were subject and its score can be found in detail on the Recuperar Portugal platform.

Procurement

Beneficiaries representing public entities implement their project by signing one or more contracts with suppliers for goods or services through public procurement procedures.

To ensure and provide the utmost transparency in all these contracts, a list of the contracts that were signed under this project is available here, along with the information available on the Base.Gov platform. Please note that, according to the legislation in force at the time the contract was signed, some exceptions do not require the publication of the contracts signed on this platform, and, therefore, no information is available in such cases.
