The prospective employee is expected to work as an Assistant Researcher in the field of Medical Informatics. The employee is expected to work in research and teaching activities at the Department of Community Medicine, Information and Health Decision Sciences (MEDCIDS) of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto. In particular, the employee is expected to work on the development and evaluation of secure and private Medical Informatics technologies and services, together with the generation of evidence based on real-world and real-user interactional data with Medical Informatics technologies and services, including the development of good practice as well as legislation and regulation compliance. The employee is expected to have knowledge and experience in doing research and teaching in these fields. In addition, the employee is expected to have a background, knowledge and experience in computer science, medical informatics, interaction design, data protection and cybersecurity.MEDCIDS has a relevant research and teaching track record in the Medical Informatics field. This is indicated by (i) the high number of publications in high-ranked journals and conference proceedings in the area, (ii) the participation of some of its members in funded scientific projects in Medical Informatics development and evaluation with real end-users, (iii) and by the participation in technology transfer and services provision activities (involving public, private, national or international entities), e.g., the participation and collaboration in Medical Informatics software developments in the areas of Hypertension and Respiratory Diseases with the industry and the participation of some of its members as Expert Evaluators for the European Commission of research projects in the areas of cybersecurity, privacy protection and regulation compliance for the Medical Informatics domain. All this research activity is done in close connection with the Associate Laboratory RISE (Health Research Network). In fact, Thematic Line 4 of RISE is fully dedicated to digital transformation, AI, Data and Decision Sciences, having as one of its main scopes: “Medical Informatics”.MEDCIDS has also displayed a vibrant teaching activity in the Medical Informatics field, with contents on the development and evaluation of secure and private Medical Informatics technologies and services, including the development of good practice as well as regulation compliance guidelines being one of the cornerstones of the Doctoral Programme in Health Data Sciences. In addition, some of these contents are also taught in the Doctoral Programme of Clinical and Health Services Research and the Master’s Degree in Medical Informatics (all these programmes are hosted at MEDCIDS). Topics on Medical Informatics will also be of key importance to the BSc course in Medical Informatics in Biomedical Innovation, in particular to its branches of Health Information Systems and Tele and Mobile Health. Of note, several of the partners of this BSc course correspond to public or private entities with whom MEDCIDS has collaborated in technology transfer or service provision activities. Given this background and the need to further develop research and teaching activities in this field, hiring an Assistant Researcher in the Medical Informatics area is necessary.
Beneficiaries
The two types are::
- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
Final evaluation score
The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.
