The current position entails a dual professional activity: university teaching and scientific research. Specifically, the selected candidate is expected to:- conduct scientific research as a group leader in the fields of neurosciences, in intersection with cardiovascular sciences, with a particular focus on basic and applied physiology and pathophysiology of cerebral and vascular disorders.- teach theoretical and practical classes to undergraduate and postgraduate medical students in the fields of basic and clinical neurosciences and physiology.In order to fulfill these specific duties, the candidate is required to have a robust scientific background, both in university teaching and research activity at basic and clinical discipline levels. Specifically, the candidate should have:- a PhD in Neurosciences, with a specific focus on neurophysiology and/or electrophysiology, studying organizational principles of the nervous system with implications in neurological disorders.- demonstrated scientific proficiency and excellent track record, namely by having published scientific papers in high-impact journals, received scientific awards and grants, attended multiple scientific meetings and presented oral and poster communications.- experience in university teaching activity in basic disciplines, such as neurophysiology and neuroanatomy, cardiovascular physiology, as well as clinical disciplines, such as neurology or neurosurgery.- experience practising medical activity in a University Hospital Center in the field of clinical neurosciences, such as Neurology or Neurosurgery.Considering that the host institution possesses research laboratories and is intricately embedded in a University Hospital Center, a candidate who can develop a research line which integrates laboratory research with clinical applications is highly desirable and fits the philosophy of integrated medical/academic institutions such as ours. This type of candidate will be able to bridge the gap between basic and clinical sciences by enabling the translation of the basic knowledge generated in the research laboratories to the clinical practice, as well as raise the clinically relevant questions that should be addressed with basic science tools at the laboratory, thus formulating important scientific questions that will shape future research projects.Given that one of the main activity cores of our institution is undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, teaching will also be a fundamental activity for the accepted candidate. Their scientific and clinical profile and experience teaching fundamental disciplines (such as physiology and anatomy) and clinical disciplines are expected to provide an integrative view to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Beneficiaries
The two types are::
- Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
- Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.
Call for applications
As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.
The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
Final evaluation score
The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.
