Summary

We are looking to hire an outstanding Assistant Researcher with a Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Sciences (or related areas) experienced in the field of animal physiology, anesthesia, and cardiovascular research, which should be mirrored by high-impact publications. Priority will be given to candidates who have proven competence in the use of large animal models and are comfortable with most procedural steps in an experimental surgery laboratory.Familiarity with the daily routine of a large animal facility is a must, as the candidate will supervise all operational aspects, from animal welfare and ethical approval to study agreement and report filing, ensuring that deliverables are met for both internally developed and externally commissioned projects. Securing research funding through competitive national or international calls, or by providing research services is among the primary responsibilities of this role.Previous experience in pharmaceutical testing or the development of medical devices will be given preference as these are key points in the research unit’s thematic lines. Exposure to international collaborative environments and clear communication skills are essential to interacting with current external partners and creating new links within the pharmaceutical and device industry, promoting innovation, knowledge, and value creation.Hands-on involvement in the actual experimental procedures will occupy a significant portion of the position, and the transfer of in vivo skills will be essential for ensuring our research lines´ continuity and growth. These fundamental skills will include animal handling and anesthesia, vital sign monitoring, percutaneous interventions, and experimental surgery, which all fit within and are required for most current and planned research projects and services.In parallel, the candidate will create the necessary environment for the creation of post-graduate training courses by promoting the communication between sponsors and the animal facility facilitating its organization, and ensuring that all required infrastructure and human resources are available.In sum, this position will cover the institution’s needs in translational research, more specifically, in the application of basic/applied innovations to a pre-clinical context, as well as its fast-growing research services needs, ensuring that the required deliverables are met. The candidate will fulfill a current need in human resources applied to post-graduate training and/or industry-sponsored demonstrations that require the use of large animal models, independently of the scientific field or medical area, serving as a platform for generalized medical training.

Beneficiaries

Within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, two types of beneficiaries are responsible for carrying out the projects and using the funding provided. Due to their similar role, the reference to these two types of beneficiaries has been simplified and unified under the term "Beneficiary".
The two types are::
  • Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
  • Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.

Call for applications

As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.

The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.

Final evaluation score

8,1
Important note

The components for calculating the assessment score can be found in the selection criteria document mentioned below.
