Summary

The Researcher will be integrated in the Applied Research Institute (i2A) and the SPRINT research unit, focusing the intervention on applied research in sports training and performance analysis.The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1) Applied Research in Sports Training - Design and conduct research projects aimed at enhancing sports training methodologies. Utilize advanced statistical and analytical methods to analyse performance data. Collaborate with coaches, athletes, and other stakeholders to implement evidence-based training interventions. 2) Teaching and Training Analysis: Investigate pedagogical approaches within the context of sports training and fitness education. Develop and implement strategies to optimize teaching methods for coaches and fitness trainers. Analyse the effectiveness of training programs in improving athlete performance and fitness outcomes. 3) Performance Analysis in Sports - Employ state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies for performance analysis. Collaborate with sports teams to collect, process, and interpret data related to athletes´ performance. 4) Publication and Dissemination - Publish research findings in reputable scientific journals and present at conferences. Engage in knowledge transfer activities, such as workshops and seminars, to share research outcomes with the broader community. 5) Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams within the research unit. Collaborate with external partners, including sports organizations and fitness institutions. 6) Grant Writing and Funding Acquisition – Participate in the preparation and submission of research proposals to secure external funding for ongoing and new projects. Actively seek opportunities for research grants and partnerships to enhance the research unit´s capabilities and impact.The successful candidate has a PhD in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field, with a strong background in applied research methodologies.It is important that the successful candidate demonstrate expertise in statistical analysis and data interpretation related to sports performance, and experience with advanced technologies for performance monitoring and analysis. Knowledge of pedagogical principles in the context of sports training and fitness education must be proven. Finaly, the successful candidate must have a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.The SPRINT research unit aims to bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and practical application in the field of sports training and fitness. The integration of a PhD with a strong scientific background is crucial to ensure that our research activities result in tangible advancements for coaches, athletes, and fitness professionals. Our goal in focusing on applied research is to directly improve overall sports performance and fitness outcomes by optimizing training approaches. This position aligns with IPC’s commitment to evidence-based practices and the ongoing pursuit of excellence in sports and fitness training.

Beneficiaries

Within the scope of the Recovery and Resilience Plan, two types of beneficiaries are responsible for carrying out the projects and using the funding provided. Due to their similar role, the reference to these two types of beneficiaries has been simplified and unified under the term "Beneficiary".
The two types are::
  • Direct Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan that has been negotiated and approved by the European Union;
  • Final Beneficiaries are those whose funding and projects to implement are approved following a selection process through Calls for Applications.

Call for applications

As part of the Call for Applications, submissions are requested to select the projects and final beneficiaries to whom funding will be awarded. Specific selection criteria are defined for each call, which must be reflected in the applications submitted and assessed.

The project is appraised on the basis of its compliance with the selection criteria laid down in the calls for applications, and a final score may be awarded, where applicable.
